Same issue, 50% of time I start truck I have to go to phone menu click disconnect then click reconnect and it fixes it, very annoying
I have been turning off the truck and opening the door to reconnect. Can you tell me specifically where on the phone do you click disconnect?
thanks

Ford Ranger CarPlay <> iPhone connection issue IMG_2982
tap setting button in top left of screen
Tap phone list
Tap on your phone
Tap the CarPlay button shown above highlighted in blue, that will disconnect carplay
Tap CarPlay button again and it will reconnect

this seems to be the fastest and least aggravating way to rectify it

My phone still only connects randomly. It’s an iPhone pro. If I start playing music on my phone before it usually connects. But still annoying

So I have had my RR for 3 weeks and the carplay issue has happen to me twice... I also had a issue where when I am on the phone and get in the truck that the whole system freaks out for like 1-2 minutes before it finally fully syncs and the call transfers to Carplay wirelessly.. its weird... The audio issue was easily fixable by doing the reset on the steering wheel each time.

I’m having connection issues with CarPlay. It works connect if the RR has sat for a while. If there is a stop and I shut off the vehicle, exit for 5 minutes, like getting gas or ATM. It doesn’t reconnect. It does this every time I have a short stop and turn the car off I can’t reconnect. I’ve tried everything it will not reconnect, until the vehicle is parked for an hour or more. My phone is not hot and doesn’t have issues connecting to anything else. Hoping this is fixed with a software update before it has to go in for a warranty claim.

You didn’t do the volume down and skip forward button method… never had a issue where it just would not connect in a long time.. sometimes when this happens.. I just reboot the phone as well… warranty not going to have to be claim over this issue.. but this has happen to me rarely in the life of owning ford vehicles… but all have been simple fixes

I have experienced similar issues with Carplay. Maybe not as bad as some of you, but both CarPlay not connecting or CarPlay being connected but no sound. Each time, disconnecting and reconnecting through the on screen phone display as resolved the issue.
However, I also have experienced a clicking noise when I’m on a call talking to someone. I’ve never heard anything like it before and I’m sure it doesn’t have anything to do with cell signal from towers. I’m wondering if it’s something electrical from the truck causing interference.
Anyone else experience that?

There are 2 issues. 1 that is more rare where carplay doesn't connect to the phone at all. That only seems to be resolved by turning the truck off and back on again. The other, more common issue is where it connects to carplay, but there's no audio. I've found that this is usually an issue with the phone, more specifically with the app the phone is using. I listen to a lot of audiobooks via audible, or apps from my local library (Libby/Hoopla) and in that case, closing and reopening the app fixes it every time. Hope that helps. :)

I have 5,200 miles on my Ranger Raptor. The only problem is the information system not connecting as it should.

Waze will freeze randomly. That's when I know the wireless has failed. Quickest fix in iOS, go to settings, general, CarPlay, disable then enable. Works most of the time. Only other fix, hard reset on phone, (on the fly).

Any known fix for this yet?
nope waiting on Ford… best way to fix the silence in the moment is to reset the infotainment system when it happens.. which always work for me.. which is holding the volume down button and the forward skip button at the same time on the steering wheel.

I found very simply if you turn Wi-Fi on on your phone it will disconnect the CarPlay then just turn Wi-Fi off. The phone will automatically reconnect to the car and you will have sound.
