Are there any ways to tell if the Ford Performance Tune has been installed other than seat of the pants?

Meaning is there a way to check say a software # or anything electronically?

Thanks in advance.

If you have the tuner device, if no tune is installed it'll only give the option to install it. If it's installed you can see that in the device. No direct way to do it from the truck alone though you need the tuner device.

I heard if you stomp on it from a dead stop and you don't get whiplash, then it hasn't been installed. Other clues include phone flying out of holder and embedding into rear seat back somewhere = already installed.

That was all much funnier in my head. Anyway, great question OP, especially for those of us sitting on the fence about buying a new or used one at some point in the near future.

Someone else said it before, but Boost is the easiest. Should get up to 24-25, which wouldn't get that high stock. But honestly it should be obvious, it was night and day before and after for me.

Thanks All. I just picked up my Truck and have only driven it a short distance through town, so I wasn't able to "test boost levels". The dealer didn't leave the ProCal plugged in and I was just questioning the install.

I guess I can plug the ProCal back in and see what it says.

Although a "butt dyno" can certainly let you know if the tune is installed, it doesn't eliminate the possibility of confirmation bias. Often times we think it feels faster because it should be faster... even if it is not.

I think what the OP is really asking is, "Is there a way to look at the ProCal tuner and see a setting or some kind of information that confirms what calibration is on the truck."

I would say, if it has an option to load on the performance calibration or load on the stock calibration, then a tune has been at least loaded ProCal unit. As for whether the ProCal unit will show which calibration is installed, that doesn't seem to be the case.

I am sure someone will disagree with me, but that's the internet.

I had this same question after mine was installed. I will look at my pro cal again and see if it is obvious.

I look at the boost in measurements screen. Should be 24-25 psi after tuned.

If you just installed the tune yourself then you wouldn’t have to guess or check!

Hey All new to this forum happy to be here. I just installed the tune and am running an 89 94 mix which should be around 91 or so but once it’s empty I’ll go full 93. I just installed the tune and in the info module on the tuner I see a difference I was curious if anyone did to cause so far that’s the only way for me to see if I installed it and I’m hoping the sw number that changed is correct. I have not seen that jump in boost however. I’m still hitting 19 max right after tuning it though and was curious if you guys saw an immediate jump. I would just like to make sure I have it installed and will not be living a false thought.
Can any of you confirm?

When you say you get 19 boost, what does that mean in regards to when you see it like when stepping on it from stop and flooring it or just accelerating etc?
