When using my adaptive cruise today I had it set for 65 Mph. All was fine than it began to accelerate I looked down and the speed was now set for 85. I applied the brakes and the cruise disengaged. I waited about 5 minutes and it did it again exactly the same way. Has anyone had anything that resembles this happen ? I will be taking it to the dealer ASAP . Thanks for any info . FYI 2024 RR 500 miles on it.

I've made a couple of trips from northern Illinois to southern Tennessee, always using my cruise control at 70, 65 and 55. Never had any problems

I have the sign recognition on and it has done that to me. It was the opponsite though and thought a sign was 35 instead of 65 and slowed me down.
Thank you. I must have the sign recognition setting on.
It may have detected a 65mph speed sign as 85mph and set the speed automatically? I think there is a setting to enable or disable the auto speed set from sign recognition
I think that was it. Went in and removed sign recognition no more problem. Thank you.

I have a 2024 Ranger Lariat and noticed the ACC occasionally will read a sign incorrectly and then adjust the speed incorrectly. I think we need to not assume it will read all signs correctly.

The wife's Explorer does the same thing. Slows down

I might be rare case. But I rarely use cruise, lane keep, or any of the gizmos for driving. I find it uncomfortable, unsafe.

I experienced something similar on my first long trip: Initially I observed it lower the set speed when I went through a construction zone with slower speed limit, that was pretty intuitive. Then I noticed that regardless of what speed I set, it would reset it to the posted speed whenever I went past a sign. I increased the "threshold" value to 6 mph as a test; That's when the weird behavior started. Now whenever I passed a sign it set my cruise control speed to the posted speed plus 6! Also ended up just turning off the sign recognition.

My 2024 Ranger FX4 with 1000 km has the same issue. The cruiser speed I set (And which number appears in the dash display) will go up or down about 10 kmh unexpectedly and the truck will either accelerate quickly or slow dramatically. The actual number on display in the dash display changes. I took it into the Ford dealer and they had never heard of it but found a bunch of software updates so they applied them and hoped it would fix the issue. It did not. I tried 4 times on the way home (at highway speed) and all four times I got the same issue.

i read below that deselecting the ability to sense speed limits has solved the issue for some. I looked and I have that selected so I have deselected it and will test it again. I can see there being a possible link in the software or hardware somewhere that allows the cruise control to use the speed sign data when it shouldn’t be - the cruise setting should not change from what a user sets - if I want to run cruise control at 5 under or 5 over a speed limit it should respect the setting, so even if this experiment works it won’t be truly fixed.

I had this happen to me today. I was cruising on the highway, going 73 in a 70 mph zone. It suddenly accelerated up to 80 mph for no reason. I will check the threshold settings and sign recognition, but this is alarming when it first happens to you and you have no idea why.

I agree that it should never override my cruise control settings on its own and suddenly accelerate when it sees a speed limit sign.

I still have yet to test mine to see whether disabling speed sign recognition worked. Let us know whether it works for you.
