I just joined after ordering a build your own 2WD Lariat from Sheehy Ford Richmond, Virginia (great experience). On Ford's build your own web site, a hardfolding tonneau cover requires 4WD. Is this just a Ford ploy to get one to get 4WD? I can't believe there is a bed difference between 2WD and 4WD. I did not order due to me possibly buying the BAKFlip MX4 instead later.

Thanks!

I just noticed the other day that the 2.7 requires 4WD. Which means if I want the bigger engine for towing, itā€™s going to cost me almost $3K more than what I was planning on (figuring the engine was about $2K). šŸ˜

I hate the bean countersā€¦

I'm guessing it's an economy of scale thing due to the smaller market. For the majority of Canadian truck owners, that's A-okay. 4X2's are the exception.
