Thanks Muffin1. I can already tell it's an old style 2.3L engine vs the '25 model.

a) the cover fits yours and it's a different bolt pattern on the '25

b) the oil filler cap is in a different position on top. Yours appears oriented behind the dipstick whereas the '25 filler cap is beside the dipstick.

c) the coolant hose on the 24 model routes to left side of engine and the '25 model routes to the right side.

BTW, anyone with an old style engine that wants a great price on the engine cover just PM me. I bought mine while awaiting delivery of my '25 truck and they don't allow returns. :>)

Surely someone with inside Ford knowledge would be gracious enough to provide some detailed guidance on the rumor ?

Why you keep insisting this is just a rumor when we definitely have the NEW 2.3 that was used in the Mustang all last year and it was confirmed in the Bronco Forum.

@2018 yes I noticed those items were different too and I never realized there were two different 2.3’s across the models

you can see the belt on the old style one, it goes around a pulley on the head. that new style pic doesn't have a pulley up top. that seems to be a very easy way to tell, cover or no cover

Also the electric brake booster with no round disk against the firewall like the old hydraulic 2.3 booster. I like these brakes better than the 24 I drove which were mushy.

Interesting, I wonder if the 24s will be the holy grail of 6g Rangers? Looks like a bunch of 25 models year fords have new ecms that are more encrypted so tuning any 25 models is in question until it’s hacked. I think the f150s you need to swap ecms to have them tunable. So for all the 25 raptor owners looking to tune, I wouldn’t be holding your breath as it looks like possible years before it’s cracked.

You should post your cover for sale on the 5G forum. I’m sure someone will jump on it right away

And your V6 has a belt driven oil pump and plastic oil pan/drain bolt... why come into a thread specific about the 2.3 and troll? Who gives a ****. There's reasons why people buy the 2.3 and others the 2.7.

As smooth and peppy as this new 2.3 is around town I dont see any reason for the 2.7, unless you tow a lot. Then it makes sense. So far I am averaging 24 around town but I only have 200 miles on it. Far from broken in. And so far no skipped shifts or hard downshifts in normal mode. 1, 2, 3, 4 etc like clockwork. And no cam phaser worries!

You mean the ones that Ford has used in the 2.7L and 5.0L since 2018? No worries.
I've lived with a 2.3L in a 5G 2022 Ranger and know it's limitations. I tow alot and appreciate the power and smoothness of the V6. Besides I have a 150K/10 year Premium Care warranty from Grainger...

I dropped in to see what the excitement about a new 2.3 could be. The old one has been pretty well sorted. Who knows what problems a *new* engine from Ford brings?

Some weak sauce getting your jimmies rustled over my post…

I think its awesome that ford corrected the fuel injection system so no more valve coking.

I specifically bought the 2.3 because i have had the old ones and they were solid engines that would run forever. I think this will be the same way, especially after having the 2.0 in the focus st and the escape titanium
