What we need to know is this; If Ford is indeed wanting stock RR orders changed to retail, what is the reasoning?

The only thing I can imagine is pre-sale retail numbers are stupid low and they want to pad the numbers by shifting 3,000 RR units to their retail graphs instead of stock graphs.
Long as my truck gets pulled for production for job 1 it don't matter to me why they did it lol

Well its funny, but Ford is reminding me of the video game developer industry. Those developers to this day still think they can sneak in changes, or remove content from their products and no one will notice. I am talking about the most minor things sometimes, like 1 pixel resolution less than what they advertised. It never fails, someone figures it out, even if its a change that 99.999999% of the consumer base doesn't care about.

Nerds find out everything. Weaponized autism and all the tropes that go along with it.

Information is power, etc etc

The less transparent a company is, the worse they usually make it for themselves. (Like the dumpster fire comment other posters have brought up)

That or they are internally revamping something with their queue system and this is being done for some unknown reason to the public.
Your reasoning makes sense. I especially agree on your first point, as without knowing the reasoning behind the change, it makes everything else pure conjecture. I hope the numbers stay workable for Ford at least until we get our builds. Going through two years of not getting my Maverick has me viewing things through a "glass half empty" lense.

The only issue with this theory is if they wanted to really pad their numbers, they probably shouldn't limit it to 3000 orders, especially if they were already planning on building more a few months later.

My dealer is reaching out to their Ford Rep as they have not heard anything indirectly or directly.

I'll update with their response as soon as I get it.

Can you imagine the optics if you go to release an updated model and the only thing people wanted to buy was the specialty trim level? Contrary to what most might think, that wouldn't be good. lol

Specialty trims are not suppose to the primary bread winner for a model. It is suppose to make up a very small percentage of total sales for a model.

Lol yeah I get that too. But the irony is, it looks like that is exactly what the market is: Ranger Raptor or bust.

I don't see how that would be a bad thing. Toyota sells a TON of Tacoma TRD Pros.

That is not the point. What percentage of all trim levels sold is it?

Hint: Not as many as you think.

Why is this a bad thing though? I'm genuinely asking. Are margins not as good on the higher end models? I would think selling a ton of your most expensive vehicle would be a good thing. It would also be an indication to make the cheaper models look a bit more like the one that's selling well.

My first thought is it may be great short term, but not long term.

There are all kinds of reasons why, from the psyche of your total customer base seeing this, to unintended side effects (ie; its not a specialty vehicle anymore if everyone has one, thus it gets de-valued).

Someone who gets paid a lot more than me and has a lot more knowledge on the subject has created production numbers for these companies, generally, for specific reasons.
