Hello everyone! just wondering with good cellphone service how far will your ford app reach to start your ford or unlock-lock it !!, in other words what is the distance from you using your app on phone to vehicle being able to start, or unlock,-lock ,with mine I have been able to start, unlock at 525 yards im going to experiment at further distances!!

IIRC, the Ford Pass App on your phone communicates with the vehicle through its cellular modem using AT&T. So theoretically, as long as you and the vehicle have a cellular connection, you can access the vehicle from miles away.

So I would assume if the vehicle and app have connection to the internet it will work from as far away as you can be with service.

From my understanding it uses your phone to connect to the vehicle via Ford’s Servers. So you could be anywhere in the world and start the engine as long as your Raptor has cellular connection.

well nothing really unbeliavable...remote starting is based on the cell network and the modem that is part of the ranger on one end, and your phone app and your cell network on the other. so as long as the two modems have coverage, it will work, irrespective of the distance between the two.
different story is remote starting based on key fob....that works within RF reception distance between car and key fob. so you won't go that far from the car

Well Ford has been known to take away abilities that used to be standard, so...

But yes, confirmed 7000+ miles away.

I think a lot of us were curious if someone accepted the app acceptance notification at the factory, if this would give the ability to start via the app before officially purchasing the vehicle. Pretty sure they could have. I'm glad no one tried it, or at least no one heard of it lol.

I am starting it from more than 2000 miles. It's all about mobile or internet data availability. However after every two remote starts it will ask to drive the car - moving from parking to drive and back to parking will reset the counter.

I don't think that would work. To link the app to the truck, the dealer had to use it to scan the VIN on the door sticker.

All you need is the VIN. I can think of at least 2 or 3 members here on this forum that got it to work pre-delivery. They entered their VIN on the app and it said to accept it on the trucks screen. Someone on the other end accepted it eventually, maybe just a driver clearing the screen accepting whatever the screen said, and voila, they had Ford Pass access. They could track it on the app so they knew where it was from Ford plant to dealership. It has happened. Probably not wise.
