Actually, there is one of those little nooks on each side of the steering wheel.
I use the one on the right to store a lens cloth to wipe the fingerprints off the display.
Really not much space to put anything that's going to stay put while driving but I'm interested in finding out what use others have found for them.

I use that one for the dealer service reminder as I told them not to put it on the upper left of windshield as I have tint there.

Gum, mints, vapes, AirPods mostly is what I put in mine when I remember it’s there.. if not all that stuff goes in the French fry holder

I've always used car keys to open vehicles and start the ignition.

on the left side, I keep the remote for my bed light/puddle light system. Reach one finger in, press the button and the lights stay on for 2 minutes.

As a "leftie" i'd be most impressed if Ford installed the "pop out" cup holder in that position like they do on their overseas models.

I'm in the process of installing some POD LED lights in the grille and looking for a place to put the switch for them inside the cab. I might try to come up with some kind of cover to fit over that space to mount the switch on and put the switch there. Looks like there is plenty of room in there for the back of the switch and wiring.
