I am going to add a bed extender to my truck and then flip it under the tonneau. I will put a trunk net from a junkyard toyota camry on the bed extender so stuff doesnt go through the bars. I have this set up in my 04 ranger ( i had to make the bed extender from a nissan one because they are adjustable, but still had to cut 6 inches out if the center adjustable bars aince my 04 is a stepside). This set up works for groceries, tools, oils and coolant jugs, everything i have ever needed to put in the bed and didnt want rolling around.

And i dont have a picture

I bought 2 large and 4 small HUSKY totes from Home Depot. I strap them down with AUGO retractable straps from AMAZON. Although with the heavy rubber mat they don’t shift any way. I can easily reach the top 2 boxes on either side. I use my cargo hook to pull out (and push back) the big ones.

I have the same setup. I thought someone was snooping in the back of my truck for a second!
Husky boxes make great truck quick grabs. One for straps camping food bedding and so on. And they fit perfectly below the bed rail

I really like to carry things that can do multiple things. For storage, it has to check a couple boxes.
1 - Fit what I want to carry.
2 - Ideally be somewhat waterproof.
3 - Something I could put in the back seat of the truck if I needed all my bed space for something large.
4 - Not be too large, too heavy when loaded, to move/carry.
5 - Something I can stand on.

For day to day, I use a couple tool bags, with items sorted into smaller nylon bags inside. Ratchet straps, tow straps, hitch stuff, bottle jack and accessories, folding shovel, shop towels, booster cables, and a few basic tools. I put those into 5 gal buckets with Gamma Seal Lids. They are cheap. Work as storage, steps, haul water or other fluids in a pinch. In the winter, I carry 2 more, one filled with gravel/sand and the other with ice melt.

For camping season, I like the Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro cases. They are spendy. They fit perfectly on a half bed slide out I build.

I have a fancy 2x6 divider and some Costco Insta-Crates. I put door edge guard on them to keep them from sliding around.

I was really interested in those Costco instacrates but I read some reviews saying that they suddenly collapse or that the bottom breaks while carrying things with the ones they've sold over the last year or so. Is that something you've experienced at all?

We have 5 crates (I keep 3 in my truck and my wife keeps two in her car). We haven't had a problem with any of them except on one occasion when I put waaaay too much weight in the crate. So it totally was my fault. They have come in handy on many occasions.

Not sure how the crate can suddenly collapse if you set them up properly. I would say that it takes a tad more effort to break them down than opening them up.

Thanks, I guess I'll get Costco's 4 pack of these for sectioning groceries and such (which should be under their weight limit anyway).

I've been sectioning off the bed (under a tonneau) with Ratcheting keeper bars, Dewalt tough cases, straps connected to extra eye bolts and what not.... Al on top of a bed mat. But it'll be nice to have collapsible crates for groceries.

Here is a partial load of my Home Depot HDX bins, they are size 14 gallon and smaller. I have them set so that the lowest layer makes a flat load floor in the center, that long gap is perfect for camp chairs, a roll-up camp table, and a small CLAM pop-up shelter. All the really heavy stuff goes near the front (chains, emergency water) and the stuff I need most often goes at the back, like an air compressor and basic recovery gear. My two MaxxTrax go across the back at the tailgate along with a Werner 20” work platform, for easy roof access, truck detailing and general sitting around. The two large soft duffles are for cooking and tent stuff, they can be quickly removed by way of the side doors.

The boxes are not completely waterproof, it doesn’t matter since the GFC Topper is weather tight and my bed and tailgate is super sealed against dust and water. I will be adding L track along the bottom of the Topper along the sides and in front, using the pre-existing 5/16” threaded rivets, I will just cut the track to the correct length and drill the mounting holes. So I will have lots of tiedown options that are easy to reach from the sides of the bed..

These fit amazingly well in the Ranger bed, they can slide back and forth but they are firmly held laterally.

I wanted side molle panels, but those most likely won’t be available until after my big Utah trip in late March…. Drat.

I mainly use them for groceries, which probably won't overload them, but I've not had any issues. we also keep a couple in my wife's Outback. We've had them for probably 3 years with no issues.

FYI, in case this matters to you. HDX plastic products are 100% made in Ohio. The earlier bins could crack at the top, the later ones were beefed up there and hold up very well. If I did not already have my garage organized, these would be my first choice, because they stack so well when moderately loaded. The LAST thing you would hope for is a bottom box of a stack of four collapsing… but use common sense and put the ammo in the bottom bin and the Christmas ornaments up top. For long term use at home, make a sturdy rack system for them.

Unrelated note - I see you installed positive pressure air vents on your GFC topper doors. Are you happy with them and if so, where did you get them from? I am looking to do the same, but have yet to find one I like.

I just installed them, so the jury is out in terms of their effectiveness. They are *supposed* to shed rain externally yet allow dryer filtered air into the canopy. The curb side one faces forward, the street side one faces rearward for cross ventilation. The filters are standard HVAC spec and washable. The vents are thoughtfully designed, extensively tested in the Outback, and very well made. Shipping added a lot to their already high cost. The prices are Australian dollars and the current conversion rate is US$0.63....

I will start a thread about them at the Go Fast Campers forum when I decide how good they are ;) Sorry for the thread hijack.
