Hey all,

I currently own a 4 door Bronco Heritage Edition but have been thinking about ordering a Ranger Raptor. I have always been a fan of the F150 Raptor but I feel like the Ranger would be ideal for me size wise and price wise. With that being said, I have few questions for the group

1- In terms of ordering, what's the ETA nowadays? I am thinking about making the switch sometime around spring/summer 2025 so do I have to order this early? or are they all caught up on production like they are now with the Broncos?

2- For those of you who switched from a Bronco to a Ranger, was it worth it? any pros and cons, do you miss your Bronco?

3- As some of you might know, Broncos have a whole lot of small issues here and there that can come up at any given day (thankfully I haven't had any yet) but as far as Rangers go, do I need to worry about anything such as cam phasers, leaks, etc..

4- Are the leasing them nowadays or is it only financing? I am still debating which route to take but I'm just curious to know if anyone was able to lease theirs

Wanted to hear from real owners first before reaching out to my dealer so any feedback is much much appreciated

I don't completely fit your demographic, but I do have a RR which replaced a '19 Ranger.
1. I ordered in June of '23, expecting delivery in the fall, but due to delays, production didn't begin until January '24. Took delivery in April. My suggestion would be to order now for delivery when you want. Others with later order/delivery dates can speak better about exactly what you should do.
2. I came from a problem-free '19 Ranger to my RR. Although I love my RR, I miss my older Ranger. The Raptor is a VERY solid piece, more so than the '19 and any late-model full-size Ford/GM/Toyo. Clearly it's designed for off-road. The ride is much smoother than my '19 on the highway and about equal to a full-sized '24 Ford/GM and better than the '24 Tundra (3 neighbors each with a new one) on washboard gravel - rough. KO3s are very quiet. Economy is better than rated (others say the same). I'm getting 20-22MPG. There are two parts to this truck; the truck itself and the high-tech software in it. At 7K miles the truck is. problem free, but the software is iffy. Blank screens, gauges that quit, inability to reset some features, sometimes very long times to initially boot up, back up camera on/off and so on. A battery disconnect/reconnect has fixed those issues so far. There are other likes/dislikes for me, but they are individual preferences.
3. Can't speak to cam phasers, although Ford has updated them from early 3.5 models but there have been a few on the 2.7. Others more knowledgable should chime in.
4. I paid cash so can't speak to the money side. I did get $1,000 off for an early order and $500 for being a previous Ford buyer and another $500 for being a Vet. $2,000 less than MSRP.

I'm taking the truck in for a window up/down recall and the service mgr will check my software issues (I'm not crossing my fingers). But even with the software issues that bother me ... overall I like the truck a lot and would buy it again. Still, I was sad to see the '19 go when the buyer drove off.

Thanks for your reply. Seems like the majority of the issues you've had so far are very minimal which is good to hear. I texted my dealer earlier about ETAs if i were to order one soon, still haven't heard from them yet but thanks for the feedback

1. They are making about 15k rangers a quarter. As the Raptor is a special allocation we can probably say about 1000 raptors a quarter give or take. 25 builds dont start until next year, so anything you order now will be back logged a bit. Generally the waiting period is about 2-3 months, that doesnt appear to have changed since I ordered and received mine 2 months ago.

3. There are a lot of issues with the RR. Various things have bulletins to fix them:
  • Hood latching
  • Tail light paint chip
  • Rear seat latching
  • "Audio off" issue
  • Car Play disconnect issue
  • Drive shaft slinging grease
  • Cam Phasers
  • White Sheet of foam left between truck bed and cabin.
  • Door alignment issue
  • Some users have reported low oil from the factor, not dangerously low, just not filled all the way.
  • Recall for the over tightened bolt somewhere on the suspension. (forget off hand)
  • Windows getting stuck recall.
4. There are basically no incentives on the raptor at all including the vet item. Its specifically mentioned raptors dont qualify for it. Ford also just nerfed the ford points you get for a new car as well like last month.

I have both a '21 Bronco Badlands 4dr 2.7 Sasquatch Soft-top with Icon semi-active coil-overs and Ford Performance tune and a '24 RR. Both were first-year, early September builds (3 years apart). I've only had the RR for about a month.

As far as issues to worry about, they are, give-or-take, the same list. They are both Fords, and very similar vehicles.

Things I noticed in the RR vs the Bronco.
The RR is very quiet. I sit lower. (Both have seats raised to the top, I'm 6ft, or really 6ft 1in if i'm not slouching.) The RR feels wider and is definitely longer. It's harder to judge and see the edge of the front fender when I'm parking 3 inches away from the wall in the parking garage.

The RR suspension is much sportier. I have more adjustment and control over the Icon's in the Bronco, but you can feel the rated 11.5" front travel and 14" rear travel. The Icon's are way better than stock Bilstein's. The Bilstein's were dramatic; they'd bite hard, then let the body roll 'til the door handles scraped the pavement! (not really, but that's how it felt)

The RR transmission is miles ahead of the Bronco; even the Ford Performance tune didn't make a dent in the gap between the two. The RR powertrain is way more refined. I wish I could have that in my Bronco.

Things I'd miss if I gave up the Bronco.
The soft top, for sure. The Bronco is my first convertible and now I can't imagine living without. The go-anywhere, ATV feeling you get when driving the Bronco. The (relatively) compact size of the Bronco. Greater off road capability.

I bought the RR as my weekend grocery getter and family hauler. I'll continue to mod the Bronco for off-road duty. The RR is so good stock, I'll only add some accessories, and probably the Ford Performance tune.

If you want more on-road SUV, the RR is the way to go, if you want more off-road jeep, the Bronco is the way to go. In fact, I've told people the RR reminds me of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo I used to own, but the RR has a RWD mode and is easy to get the back end to step out.

1- My experience:
Order date: 2/5/2024
Arrived to dealer: 5/17/2024
Picked up and Brought home: 5/20/2024

2- Switched from Tacoma TRD Pro to RR. I miss the storage on the inside (under and behind rear seats), Tacoma was better at that. Other than that - I miss nothing

3- I have had no issues. Let me say that again: I HAVE HAD ZERO ISSUES with this truck. I am at 7,500 miles.

4- I paid cash. I did NOT pay additional 'dealer upcharge', I paid List price.

In general - this is a great vehicle. The 3.0 L V6 is outstanding. Adaptive Cruise is so much better than with Tacoma as the truck barely needs to work when going up hills, etc . I love this engine. I have taken this vehicle off road in plowed fields and it is very capable in the woods and in deep mud.

I won't say there was or was not a $500 Ford discount for Vets, but my dealer included it on mine. Perhaps it's his deal, not Ford's. I don't know, but those kind of discounts are moving targets, here today , gone tomorrow.

Another thing to check (isn't. on the RR - yet) is a discount if financed through Ford. For example, on my wife's '17 Escape there was a $1,300 discount. I financed $8,500, got the discount and paid it off three months later (dealer gets a kick-back if the loan is out for three months or more). My interest cost was around $250. Always good to check.

You can see here, its specifically mentioned no dice for ranger raptors. If your dealer gave you some off, then you got a freebie.

Dealers are doing under MSRP deals on 24's & the 25's are the same besides a few different colors.

I took my Bronco Heritage in for a free Ford points oil change and saw the RR on the lot. They had it marked up $10K. which made me walk away. A couple of days later I called and they agreed to sell at sticker and gave me a fair trade on my Bronco.

The only thing I miss from the Bronco is the manual transmission.

The RR is more comfortable, WAY faster, handles far better, loaded. Mine has some electronic gremlins, but my Bronco did too. Yes, it cost a lot more. Worth every penny IMO.

I have almost the exact time line, the only issue I had was the Apple CarPlay that seems to be resolved with the over the air update. I also paid cash and msrp.

Small nuisance type stuff.

I have a my view set up for the gauges. It randomly switches to trip 1.

The ambient lighting would be turned off, not by me, most of the time. Bronco had the same issue. Appears to be fixed by OTA update.

About half the time the first call over bluetooth would have a static type sound.
Appears to be fixed by OTA update.

The screen blanks and resets occasionally.
