I'm wondering why you say that though? Genuine question. In that diagram you posted, it looks like the #4 is the back-support to fit onto the #1 back frame, and it's the #8 that's the seat support?

Purchased a 2' x 4' sheet from Industrial Paints and Plastics for $24.99 and cut it to size. Only a 12" x 12" piece is needed.

Correct, but only on the driver's side. The passenger seat has the plastic from the factory.
Hmm, that's weird. Bet they just didn't have the plastic, and they built and shipped anyway. Like i said, I'm going to do a warrantee soon.

It’s made a huge improvement — I have since driven 1,300 km over a couple of days with minimal fatigue or soreness. The back of the cushion no longer feels like it's sinking.
