Hey all,

Has anyone done a top side oil change on a Raptor? Finding no info online as to if it works. Our 2.7TT Edge definitely does not allow this- the tube bottoms in some baffle or cavity of some kind, hoping that’s not the case on the Raptor.

Thanks!

Ok- tested the waters for everyone. The smaller tube I have fit down perfectly. The larger tube would not fit, so it just took a bit longer to evacuate everything.

I pumped everything I evacuated in to the new containers once they were empty and I apparently got basically all but a few tablespoons out. Very much in the acceptable range for me as I’ll be changing oil fairly frequently.

if you’re wondering why I’d do this: Basically zero mess. It’s windy whenever I have time to change my oil, so this is important to me. I’ve saturated my driveway from one big gust before. The evacuation system I have is also a nice way to get the spent oil to a recycling center without having to find containers to get it there, or deal with an oily pan/container combo.

I did find something strange while doing g the change though. The filter I removed was a different part number than what the owners manual calls out. See pic. I took out a 6714, and the manual calls out 2062.

This is good news! I have a gen 2 raptor and you can NOT suck the oil out topside at all. I like how the filter is topside as well. I can change oil and filter with the mityvac in a tux and not spill a drop.

The 6714 part number is the original equipment as built part and the FL-2062 is the Motorcraft service part. They do the same thing on the can filter motors where the original as installed factory filter is a different sourced filter and not a Motorcraft labeled part. It is a easy identifier to the dealership service department if you come in with issues and they can tell if you still are riding on the factory installed oil filter.

I've been using the dipstick tube for oil changes on my other vehicles.. Glad to hear it works! Might save me some time and mess.
