if you have the 360 surround view option, there is this nice view that you can turn on even while driving that shows side by side the left and right rear (uses cameras under the mirror). This view is awesome and I suspect will be great when hauling a trailer, but it only works in forward!

Now, if you have the tailgate down, and throw the truck in reverse, it sure would have been nice if that camera view could be enabled while backing up. Once the tailgate is down, you really can't see anything except the old fashioned way of turning your head and looking back.

Anyone know of a hack that can be used to enabled those cameras in reverse? Didn't see anything obvious in Forscan.

That's a great question.I am also wondering if the alarm warning can be shut off when the tailgate is down and in reverse? I carry things that are a little longer than the bed and when backing up the alarm warning thinks you are too close to something because the camera is pointing directly at the ground.

actually that one is easy. just touch the screen and click that P slider on the bottom right. it probably re-enables every time the truck starts, but at least you can shut it up for one time. some times that slider doesn't show up though - haven't figured out why it's not always there.

I have to do this in the Bronco when I have a bike rack mounted. Sometimes it takes a few seconds before the "mute button" (?) shows up on the screen...

Ok .Thanks. I'll look for that next time I have the tailgate down. Even just a one time off feature is good enough for me!

You can run a jumper from your reverse light to your trailer plug and the system will think that you have a trailer installed when the reverse lights come on and that will activate the towing cameras which are effective

Interesting thought. I'm not good at digging in to wiring but it seems like that might be something to try. I wonder what that'd do to the system though that probably will pop up a message asking which trailer is connected or other messaging on center console.
