Hi all,

I've purchased a Ranger Raptor from out of state and need it shipped to California. A couple questions for those who have gone through shipping the Ranger Raptor.

1. Will it fit in an enclosed trailer? I looked up the dimensions and according to Ford the width is 79" with the mirrors folded, which should fit, but some carriers are nervous about it!
2. Any recommended enclosed or open trailer companies? Ones that have experience shipping a Ranger Raptor are preferred, but open to any feedback

Thanks!

I shipped quite a few vehicles over the years, trucks, UTVs, ATVs, tractors etc.
Open trailer is by far the more cost-effective way to transport a truck.
Where is it shipping from. About the only way I would think about paying extra for enclosed is if it is going to be hauled in a lot of bad weather especially not crazy about winter hauls in the northern snow country where they use a lot of road salt.

Say you bought one in AZ or TX and shipping to CA, I would not pay the extra for enclosed.
If shipping from Main to CA I might think about it.

I shipped this classic 2nd Gen RAM Cummins from Oregon to KS last month on an open trailer transport.

No problems.
It did get a little dirty but nothing a car wash couldn't cure.
Leaving Oregon.

Just FYI, typical going rates for open transporting like pictured above, is about $1 per mile.
That was about a 2000 mile haul and cost right at $2000.

If you have never shipped a car, you are in for a treat of dealing with lots of headaches. If you bought it from a dealer, I would ask them about shipping it specifically. If you bought it from a 3rd party then you need to arrange your own stuff. You will want to find a broker who can be the middle man amongst all the actual shippers.

I would suggest an open trailer for transport. If you are worried about the paint, have who ever owns it put some crash tape or something on whatever is being exposed to the wind. While the truck might fit into a trailer, if the doors cant open so someone can exit the vehicle in the trailer you cant ship it that way. Getting a full flat bad enclosed trailer would also be a pain in the ass, along with still issues of being able to control the car as you move it in an out since people cant access the steering wheel or brake etc etc.

When I shipped a car recently we went through 3 different shippers before the broker got someone who wasnt super shady / communicative / just didnt cancel.

I shipped my truck twice CT —> TX then TX—> CA

First leg dealer organized it using this Broker:
Anthony Negron
Cell (520) 508-9650
[email protected]

Second Leg I organized it and used this guy as the broker:
Andrew Kane
Hyper Auto Transport
[email protected]
+1 (716) 204-7731

The driver for the 2nd leg was Charles +1 951 801 8985.

He was a nice guy and responsive. His transport company is

NnavsTransport LLC
5465 N Acacia Ave San Bernardino CA 92407

alternate phone numbers for Nnavs
9518018985
760 215-9757 driver's info

Both worked well. I would recommend the second guys. Truck got there no issues.

Intercity Lines and Reliable Carriers are both legit. Expensive and enclosed. But you kinda get what you pay for. Sometimes if they have open room on a trailer they can cut a good price.

That last load I let the dealer work it out with his regular shipping broker.
Which I was fine with since I knew the going rate was about a buck a mile, and if the dealer already had a broker they trusted, I was good with that.

I have used U-ship many times with good results. U-ship lets you post your own load to leader board, now you do get brokers trying get in the middle and make a buck and u-ship is going to also need to make a buck, so I try and go directly with the carrier quotes and negotiate the best deal I can that way.
They have shipper reviews and carrier detailed info available as well.

IE. If they show a lot of poor reviews and canceled shipments, I tend to skip those offers.
