I want to give a heads up to the Ford Ranger community if you’re thinking about the OEM bedliner. Short answer: extremely disappointed. Below is my review, if Ford even post it on their page.
I bought this for my parents’ truck thinking it would be a nice add-on. Would rate it negative if I could for wasting money and my time. For the price, you expect pre-cut out and trimmed panels. NOPE! It was very clear during manufacturing from Ford, nothing was holding the panels down and they missed ALL the cut-out lines and the panels moved during the trimming process. How do I know? You can clearly see on the backside where the edge border for where the cut was supposed to be. ALL, and I mean ALL, edges have a S-shape cut and extremely jagged. Example, my tailgate panel, one end was trimmed so much compared to the other that a large portion of my tailgate is still exposed. Many plastics flash (overhanging plastic). Also, you, yes the customer, after spending this kind of money for plastic, still have to make the cut-outs for the power plug panels on the left side bed wall. Each hole was mislocated, each slot had an irregular shape. Why was each hole so oversized, there is no bearing against the bolt, they rely on the hardware with a large washer. So in other words, the panels are held together solely by clamping, which is eventually going to get loose and thus having all your panels just jiggling around the bolt holes. Don’t say add more torque to tighten it, each bolt can only take so much before stripping the threads. Oh, and you have to remove the tie-down bolts, which Ford literally used red Loctite for the entire shank of the bolt and guessing about 150 ft-lbs to remove. I am not exaggerating that FORD literally soaked each tie-down bolt with red Loctite. I stripped 3 bolts heads and scratched up paint bed just trying to remove it. Now I am stuck with 3 striped bolts so I can’t even install the side panels, scratched up paint which will cost me a lot of money and time to fix correctly just to install a poorly made soft plastic cover. The only shot you have a removing the tie-down bolts is using a harden steel T40 Torx with a breaker bar and SLOWLY loosen it with a heat gun. You may have to tighten and loosen a bunch of times. The irony, this was supposed to protect the paint. Packaging came rolled up like a burrito so all your panels are deformed too. It’s very clear they don’t care about the product. They proudly say it made in the USA, but would have rather have it made overseas since the quality would have been better. Cherry on top, it’s non-refundable. I felt cheated of the product and from Ford. Please go elsewhere for a bedliner, it’s an unacceptable product for the money.
