PSA about ordering 2025 RR (it all comes down to allocation)

There seems to be a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about ordering a 2025. So, as a PSA:

1. You place an order either online and it is assigned to a dealer or, you directly order with a dealer. During this process, the #1 thing to talk about with your dealer is "allocation".

2. If your dealer has allocation, you will receive a text from Ford (that will also go to the dealer) with 3 essential pieces of information:
a. Your order #.
b. Your VIN #.
c. Your build date.

The text will have the last few digits crossed out, so just email your salesperson and they will give you the full order # and VIN so you can register at Ford.com. From that point forward, you can track things yourself online:

E.g. I ordered on October 27, received email on December 4 with a build week of February 24 and as of today, that timing is still holding. It would have come earlier, but this was the start of 2025 allocations.

3. If your dealer does not have allocation, you will get an order confirmation but nothing else. DO NOT blame Ford. Blame the communication between yourself and your dealer.
E.g. A person complained last week "I was the first person to order one from my dealer but I haven't received anything from Ford." Yes - that's because you ordered from a small dealer with no allocation.

To summarize - the key is to find a LARGE dealer with few people ordering Ranger Raptors and to then ask them upfront - do you have available allocation? Either then move-on or, ask them honestly when they expect to get allocation for you (e.g. how many people have allocation for already and how many unallocated people are waiting in line in front of you).

Be forewarned, some smaller dealers may not get any allocation or only a few 2025 allocation.

Hope this helps.

Is there any way to call a dealer on their bluff about having allocation before waiting months with no update after an order?

Yes. That was one of the key points. Ask the hard questions.
1. How many allocations have you already received?
2. What # in line am I for unallocated orders?

Yes, I understand that part, I asked my dealer if they had allocation and they said they had it. But I am having to take their word for it. Could I ask the salesperson to send some sort of screenshot showing proof of allocation?

I was informed by my long time dealer that they received an allocation for one RR and was informed I was the only one they were ordering (#1 position). Do you know how long before I would get a build date and VIN?

I'll try to answer both Daweism and Dre 'Dawg together. BTW, I'm just a consumer but I consult in the automotive industry and my best friend is a Ford salesperson.

Asking about allocation is not a yes/no question. By this I mean it isn't just "do you have allocation" because if they have allocation for the next 2 month's build you will have already received a text message from Ford with the above mentioned information.

So, the nuance is "when can I expect to get allocated"? They may not want to or be able to answer that question.

So that is why I suggested asking "how many other of your customers have received allocations" and "how many people are ahead of me in line and still waiting for allocations".

As an example if they say "we have 10 customers who have already received their 2025 build confirmations and only 2 people ahead of you awaiting allocation" then you can probably expect pretty quick production confirmation.

Hope this helps.

Every month, Ford announces new build schedules which triggers those emails. Production notices go out roughly 50 - 60 days before build and then it generally takes another roughly 30 days for delivery to the dealership.

In January I went into a larger Ford dealership asking about the Ranger Raptor and was told they did not have allocation. I then went on Ford.com and built one which was sent to the same dealership. The same local dealer internet sales rep called me and told me again they did not have allocation for the rest of the 2025 year.

I received a courtesy follow up email from the dealership GM (probably auto generated) that asked if I was satisfied with my online request. I replied to it and shared that I was just looking to order a 2025 RR but was told there was no allocation. I received an email back from the GM (probably an internet sales rep) telling me that they have 3 or 4 2025 RR's on order in X colors which I did see on ford.com.

About a week later I received another email from the GM (this time I don't believe it was automated) saying that they could order me a RR and that what I was told about allocation was incorrect. I went in a few days later, put a small refundable deposit down on a 2025 RR.

Ordered 1/31/25 - Received order confirmation from Ford the same day
2/6/25 - received a build date of 3/10/25 and VIN

Long story but my point is that you may need to keep reaching out and some of the sales people may not be fully informed regarding allocation. Good luck.

Damn that was a fast turnaround time on order to build date. I ordered Jan 23, still waiting for build date and vin.

With that quick of a turn around that had to be a stock unit order that they modified to your order build.

Just placed a second order with another dealer, and they had me on a 005. The first dealer had me on 010.

I believe that was the case. They had 4 stock orders when they fist emailed me and now I only see 3 stock orders. They must have converted one order to mine.

Please don't kill the messenger, but last year Ford announced that they would be checking for people with multiple orders and people caught with that could face their order(s) being canceled.

The issue is not just consumers but also dealers trying to gain extra allocation.

So, you may want to cancel the other order directly with Ford. Again, just a PSA.

I'll cancel one as soon as one gets a build date.

Thanks for the info. I wish I would have known this in October, I ordered through my local and small dealer. I just got a build date of April, six months after I ordered it.
