Welcome to my 3 minute rant about dashboard trim.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

I mean I do see where the money went, the drivetrain is awesome and the bespoke changes made to the chassis and suspension make this an absolutely awesome truck to drive fast off-road with... My point is that this just a "really Ford?" moment. This is easy shit. And that's why I don't spend $60k on a vehicle. When it comes down to it, it's just a $30k truck with a bigger engine and some emblems that cost the factory $2k more but they charge $30k more for. Kaching!
You clearly know nothing of Raptors if you think there is an actual cost of 2k over a bog standard truck. And that's why I don't spend $60k on a vehicle. Actually I do know the differences. But there are some folks when reading posts who cannot discern humor, sarcasm or in this case simplistic exaggeration to make a condensed point. So to clearly make the point, there is not anywhere near a $30k cost difference in the manufacture of an XLT to Raptor. Specialty vehicles are a huge profit maker for any company. They know there is always a group of customers who will pay a huge markup to have a status vehicle to show off with for a while before they get bored and move on to the next status symbol. So they don't take an XLT and remove and toss all the XLT parts to change it to a Raptor. That actually would make the $60k price reasonable. My point was there is little manufacturing cost differences between a particular Raptor trim vs XLT trim piece, no real difference between one gear and another, or one body panel and another, or one set of shocks and another or one chip and another. There are minor manufacturing cost differences with all those parts. The real cost difference is the engine. So if they wanted the approximate same profit margin at today's inflated prices, the Raptor should probably be priced at around $45k.You clearly know nothing of Raptors if you think there is an actual cost of 2k over a bog standard truck.
There is very little parts wise on a raptor that is the same as a XLT for example.
Chassis , body panels , suspension , interior , exhaust , engine , Wheels and tires , intercooler , turbos , electronics ,
Etc etc
Not bad for 2 grand
Raptors are the best value performance truck globally .
Arguments welcome :
Engine, transfer case, locking front and rear diffs, stiffened frame, electronic exhaust baffles, stiffened shock mounts, strengthened axles, skid plates, Fox dampers, adaptive headlights... I think you missed a few things.Actually I do know the differences. " The real cost difference is the engine ". Remember, reading comprehension is your friend. As far as all the rest you mentioned, mostly the cost of a little extra steel.Engine, transfer case, locking front and rear diffs, stiffened frame, electronic exhaust baffles, stiffened shock mounts, strengthened axles, skid plates, Fox dampers, adaptive headlights... I think you missed a few things.
