Well , on my way to work this morning and the dash lit up like a xmas tree , then the truck just died. I have a Lariat with the FX4 , only has 1200 miles on it. The radiator just blew out. After pulling over and popping the hood i saw it. It was just gushing out of the back middle of the radiator all over the engine. I did not see a hole like you would expect , but none the less , a geyser was still shooting onto the engine. Luckily my ford dealer is righ beside my house so i got water in it and just made it to the dealer before it shut off again. they werent open yet , but i left the key along with the form and dropped it in the drop box. he calle me a little while ago and was pissed that a truck with only 1200 miles on it had this happen. He said they will order a new radiator and give me a loaner until all work is complete. Very good service center.

I have seen you guys in a bunch of other posts with a wide range of problems with your trucks. Did their hold on the trucks for "quality control" actually happen ?? This is nuts. We shouldnt be dealing with these issues with a truck that cost over $50 grand for some of us and has low miles !!!!!

From the dealer. Apparently the ranger's radiator comes in two halves and is fused together. The seam where they fused it failed. They already have one ordered and my old one removed. May be as early as tomorrow he said. Thats optimistic i think , im going with two to three days at least.

Im assuming nobody else has had this particular issue ?

That is totally bizarre. I have never heard of a radiator just blowing apart. You should buy a lottery ticket.

Welcome to the Third World. American made parts, pride in one's work are a thing of the past. I've been looking for a small/mid sized truck, any truck for two years. Everything has a laundry list of serious issues. I started out looking at the Santa Cruz. The DCT trans leaves people stranded right out of the chute as well as cheap parts and build quality issues. Then I thought of the Maverick. It should have been called the Unicorn since they were so hard to find plus they had production stoppage problems. Then came the new Tacoma and Ranger. Good deal. I narrowed it down to those. Then I see a brand new Tacoma take a dump on a flat rock a bicycle could go over. OK, Last man standing, the Ranger. I'm still in the wait and see mode. And you're not helping. Plus Ford dealers around me suck with a capital "S".

LOL , sorry im not making this easier. It is a awesome truck if your one of the lucky few. I thought i was until this morning. Probably some kid on the assembly line making the radiators that was playing on his cell phone instead of concentrating on his job.

I've had several Rangers and F-150s from 1993-2008 and the only things I had go wrong were the batteries dying exactly at 12 months and a bad Chinese starter on my 2008 F-150. The newer ones I just didn't care for until this latest Ranger.

I don't blame you, I have a laundry list of issues, major issues, with my RR, and lost faith. Let's see what Ford does to resolve, crossing fingers.

I had a official ford account message me over this post. Wanting to know all my information , including my VIN. I do not trust giving that info out on a message on a forum. Has anyone else ever had a official ford account message you dealing with your post ?

If it's got the Official Ford Account badge, it's legit.

My issue is that there are a lot of dealers in my area, and I'm trying to find one to service my new RR and older Fords. I will never again use the dealer (service department) I have been using previously.
When I try to research dealers using various reviews, most/all have a lot of terrible reviews spanning quite a bit of time. I still have not selected a local dealer for service (bought truck in Iowa). One has to weigh the fact that those with bad experiences are more likely to submit a review.

Done it twice, don't think it will help, but why not.

take this FWIW: I had a late 2022 Maverick arrived in Nov 2022 and rarely drove it, but it ran great and not a single quality issue in the 13 months I had it. I'm seeing lots of them on the road now and sometimes stock units at my local small-town dealer. The thing is it's not like any mini truck I ever owned because it's Unibody and has front transverse mounted engine with torque steer. I've owned 2 Chevy LUVs, a 1970 Datsun, 2 Rancheros, 4 previous Rangers from 1987 to 2006 and the Maverick just does not feel like a truck to me, more like maybe a Ford edge with 2.3 and open bed behind 2nd row of seats. The Santa Cruz is even LESS like a truck driving experience.

I had high hopes for the new Ranger but was expecting the option of long bed and SCab to carryover from 5th Gen as Crew + short doesn't work for me. I ordered 1 hoping they would be on schedule and offer more configs by Job 2 but bailed after all the delays. Toyota was never an option for me, and neither were Ridgeline, Colorado /Canyon. Jeep way overpriced and crude. I frequented this place a lot early on and kept wishing for the SCAB + 6' bed and eventually somebody that was tired of my mentioning configs suggested the new Nissan which DID have more configs + standard 310 HP non-turbo V-6. It was never on my radar, but after eventually driving 1 it was immediately clear "this is the small truck driving experience I was expecting".

The pricing is more competitive than the others and IMO more value too for what you get. I've had 0 issues with my 2024 King Cab SE since buying in December. If you are not super concerned about the most advanced technology or latest "edgy" styling it may be worth your time to test drive the Nissan like I did. Unfortunately, Nissan will not take your custom order spec'd exactly the way you want, but it's easy to check inventory across the USA and find something close to how you would order anyways. I found an honest dealer on my 2nd try and he helped me intercept the truck I wanted in transit to another dealer 500 miles away and it worked out great.

As always YMMV

Thanks for the info. I did consider the Nissan first before all these other new generations came out. Unfortunately, I really, really like light steering and for some reason even unknown to the professional truck reviewers who always like heavy steering but even they are stumped as to why the Frontier is so heavy, it was deleted from consideration just for that alone. It would be a constant annoyance to me. Originally I was awaiting the long promised return of a mid sized Ram Dakota, hoping it would be something like a Grand Cherokee with a bed and have the excellent 3.6 and eight speed trans without the goofy big brother electronics (I mean really, do we need lane keeping assist? Have people forgotten how to operate a steering wheel?). That would have been a home run. Ram also promised a standard cab 5th gen full size Ram which I would have bought. But those never materialized so I've been on a long hunt for second place.

I see you have a Grand Cherokee as I do. Mine is 2013 Laredo 4x4 with the xlnt Pentastar V6 Flex Fuel motor and 5 speed tranny. It has been trouble free since new and I'll never get rid of it, but I currently completed some mods and updates to improve performance and make it more fun to drive. Our Grand Cherokees have electric power steering that is not progressive and I don't get much road feel feedback at any speed. I've seen the Nissan described as feeling "heavy" bit it is actually hydraulic speed sensing. I started driving in 1973 and at slow, parking lot speeds the Nissan feels just like the old manual steering that takes as little more effort but very controllable with good feedback and it gets lighter as you speed up. At highway speeds it feels basically the same as my Grand Cherokee with a much lighter touch needed. To me it works really welI. I think most of the "professional car reviewers" these days have very few years of driving experience under their belts and probably never drove a truck or any car for that matter with manual steering- so they label it as heavy. Most can't drive a stick either, but that's a whole other category of lame
