I got the Kuat Tranfer and swing for my Ranger. Works great! I can easily open the tailgate when it’s racked and open it with mountain bikes on! Plus it removes very easily for when I wanna go off-road. Has keyed allen keys to prevent theft of rack and tightens super tight on hitch so it doesn’t rattle going down a dirt road.

I'm going to have a pretty similar setup, currently on my XJ but will move back and forth between the trucks. Kuat Pivot with a North Shore rack.

Post the bikes 🤘

FYI a Kuat NV 2.0 will have a slight touch on the tailedgate when it is opened. Touch is at the front tire cradle, I’m thinking of modifying it, but it is minor, but you wouldn’t want weight on the tailgate when they are touching

Does your setup block any of the sensors/cameras on your Ranger?

Yep sure does. I have to turn the park sensors off when I reverse.

Depends on how heavy your bike is. They offer bike racks that support heavier e-bikes and fat tires. My Transfer rack will only do 40 pounds per tray but will support fat bikes with an accessory.

My bike is around 70 lbs. Have to go with hitch mounted rack.

I have the OneUp rack - see avatar pic. I have to lower it to the lowest position to open the tailgate. The hitch on my old truck was lower so I could open with it in the flat/carry position.

There are options for those. Hollywood rack was a go to at my old shop. Kuat and Rocky Mounts make some great options.

I have the same rack. I'll add that after I take delivery on the truck. Thank you for sharing.

BuzzRack E Scorpion H. Tailgate opens fully with 1 bike at the rear position, but not with 2 bikes. But it does have a lever/hinge so I can drop the rack down and open tailgate with 2 bikes or open the hatch on my Escape with 2 bikes.
I always remove the battery for transport, which also reduces the weight on the hitch.
