My commute tends to see a lot of bugs and I have a little process every morning and afternoon to clean the front end. I didn’t do it ONE TIME and it appears that the bug cuts blistered the clear coat. I’ve had this truck for 2 weeks and it’s hard to believe 12 hours of bugs on the paint would do this, but I think it did. Am I crazy?

sorry, all i can see is reflections. Maybe a bug shield on the front of hood or a good coat of ceramic wax or PPF film would help, especially if this is a common/frequent occurrence.

Just below the branches of the tree you can see the blistering. Just doesn’t seem real after that little amount of time.

I bought a roll of ppf and did the front bumper myself. The paint on these trucks is THIN. Mud-flaps ordered after getting two chips from stones on the rear fenders.

Pretty sure every car in the modern era has thin paint. I never see anyone say they have THICCC paint.

For the OP, that will correct out, but some ppf, or ceramic coating will help.

Correct. The difference in a quality factory paint job in the modern area vs only 15-20 years ago is noticeable. Probably even more so to me as I have meticulously painted many cars over the years. My 1999 F-150 averaged 10 mils and my new truck is about 4mils. It’s the usual cost cutting effort to save money.

Agree on paint. However, I had three Tacomas prior to this Raptor and after 3 year leases had very few rock chips. I don't drive more than 6-7k per year. At 1,000 miles on this truck and already have several good rock chips. Haven'y even been off road yet. PPF is a must I didn't plan for. Would have got it day 1.
