I’m considering adding a set of Lariat side mirrors to my XLT. The XLT does not come with puddle lights and turn signals built into the mirrors. I picked up a pair of lightly used 2024 Lariat mirrors in a salvage yard that I want to change out with my XLT mirrors.

I previously had a 2021 F150 Hybrid that I added towing mirrors to. I purchased a set of towing mirrors with the power extend switch and then purchased the driver and passenger side wire harnesses for the doors that would plug into the mirrors and then plug directly int the central wire harnesses going to the dash. I didn’t want to figure out the different “pinning” wire procedure that some guys are really good at. I’m not one of those. The truck was a Lariat and already had most of the functions except for the power extend feature and the side mirrors cameras (didn’t have 360 on the truck)

So what I’m wondering is could you put the new Lariat mirrors on the XLT, buy new driver and passenger door wire harness set ups that will support the mirrors and plug them into the primary wire harnesses for that runs to the dash or would there be more wiring that would need to be done in the dash to support the turn signals and puddle lights? Could this be a fordscan flash that could be done at the dealer to make them function after all was installed? Let me know what you think! Thx.

Don't know the tech behind the mod for switching out mirrors, but I do like the zone lighting (puddle lights), camera and especially the folding mirrors when I park in the two-car tight garage with my Lariat. I clipped the mirrors plenty of times on my GMC Yukon parking at night especially. That switch is on the door panel; might be another mod needed.
I did see some running boards (if wanted) that had some lighting features but would not help with your desire for turn signals on the mirrors.
Best of luck!

Did you pull the mirrors off the donor Lariat? How different are the plugs?
Could you not have pulled the harness off the donor? Or would that have been too much
hassle?

The wiring is going to be the big stumbling block. The lights and cameras in the mirrors and the folding motors need to be paired with the door switches and computer controls. Your truck needs the "Technology Package" to get the stuff you want. I'm going to guess that you're S.O.L. as far as retro-fitting goes.

The wire harnesses from the donor vehicle the mirrors came from were not available. Too bad as it would have saved some bucks. I have not pulled the door panels off yet to get to the final pin connection that the harness plus into going into the truck body.

My truck has the Technology package….folding mirrors, heated seats, full Max towing package with oem dash mounted brake control, large touch screen etc. I have a shop locally that is willing to run the necessary wires from the door/body connection to the turn signals and puddle light setup if needed. Since my truck has the folding mirrors function but not the lights, cameras and turn signals, I was thinking a wire harness swap may do it? It was a really easy swap out on the F150. Was hoping this would be as easy!? Thx all for your thoughts!!!
