I took my truck in for a few warranty things and they said nothing was wrong.

For the wireless charger cooking my phone they gave me a handout that says qi1 chargers aren’t compatible with qi2 devices. That’s complete bullshit. Why are they putting in a wireless charger in new cars that aren’t compatible with 4 year old phones? Anyone know if I can pull a fuse or disconnect it so I at least have a nice phone pocket?

They also said they would do my j-brace as a warranty repair then reversed after I dropped off the truck. So salty about that fiasco.

Just venting and letting yall know Ford’s official statement on their phone cooker accessory you paid extra for.

I have 13 pro and it charges fine in my truck. I don’t know why they would say it’s not compatible.

Doesn't work for my Samsung S24. I mean, it tries to charge but, I only seem get one or two percent an hour. I also wonder why Ford would drop in an outdated charger on that spot?

Not a real solution as I fully agree it sucks they put older technology in these vehicles, but I just flip my phone face down when I don't want it to charge, and periodically flip it over on a longer drive for charging or plug in the cable. I do know that any use of Waze on long drives makes the phones heat up a lot, even with a cable plugged in (but not as much), and they often can't even top up the charge while it's active.

Same goes with 4G vs 5G telecommunication. Most new vehicles are still putting 4G in them when 5G has been out for a while. And guess what? Just like they did with 3G in 2019, 4G will get turned off by AT&T in a few years too, rendering vehicle data inoperable. Talk about planned obsolesence... My wife's BMW that we finally traded (sad face), lost it's comm when they did that several years ago with no retrofit option, so the cool features like remote unlock stopped working.

very odd how inconsistent the charging pad operates. I have an iPhone 15 in an Otterbox case and it works fine on the charging pad without issue. Recently took an eight hour road trip using Waze without issue. Could there be an certain app on a particular phone model that while running creates the issue?

My phone is in a Quadlock case which is a bit thick on the back. Maybe that’s the issue. It takes a while to overheat, less than an hour and it’s ok. I might add a MagSafe stick on dead center on the pad and see if that fixes it.

On long trips I've noticed my 15 Pro charging indicator cycle on/off when it's near full charge. I wondered if it was part of the Qi logic to prevent overcharging and/or overheating. Otherwise, it charges fine.

Good thing that 4G / LTE is far more reliable than 5G.
