Mine does the same thing - goes from 1st to 3rd when it is cold.
Once it warms up it uses all of the gears.
I'm guessing that is just the way it is programmed to shift when it is cold.
Why? I don't understand - it makes no sense to me.
But my Tranny shifts like a dream once it is warmed up, so...
At age 66 I purchased a new 2020 TRD Off Road (3.5L V6, Auto), thinking that it would be my last vehicle purchase and that I would drive it for the rest of my years.

The Parts Guy at my local Dealership looked at my truck, and then looked in his computer at the schematic of every part on this truck, and he concluded that this is not a 'part' of this truck, but is something left over from the manufacturing process.
I used a wooden yard stick to remove it...
Is it on both sides (driver side & passenger side), or just on one side (which side)?
Mine is only on the driver side; and I have a lot of road noise coming from the rear passenger side, so I wonder if this insulation (which is missing on my passenger side) would quiet down the road noise...
