Nah......Different vehicles, different capabilities. Take Honda; They sell many over-lapping vehicles, as does Toyota. The Everest would be far more off-road ready than an Explorer which is an on-road vehicle. For example, my wife would want the Explorer and I'd want the Everest. Add in price variances, they would be positioned differently. Look at Honda Passport and Trailsport, or the Pilot and all the variations.
I want one. Not the same vehicle not the same capabilities as the Explorer. Ford’s 4Runner vs. Highlander. I assume they’ve run the numbers & the case to produce this with a 2nd T6 platform plant just aren’t there. It’d fit in though as a 2 row edge replacement. If they truly want to be known for their off-road vehicles, selling the ones they produce here would be a good start.

What we really need is the Ranger Raptor R with the supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 from the Shelby GT500, tuned for 720 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.

Much of what is being suggested could be done as a "sub-model" to existing models. For example, an Atlas version of the Explorer, or a suspension option package for the FX4 Ranger. Farley races himself and is a "car guy," so moving the company in a racing direction is understandable and one I strongly support, but he REALLY needs a FULL COURT PRESS on Ford's frequency of repair issues which have been the worst in the industry. Much of the problem lies with suppliers of course as all manufacturers push those suppliers in order to reduce costs, but Ford's current position is unacceptable. The goal of Alan Mulally, Ford's former CEO, is worthy of emulating, to be the best in every segment.

They should update the FX4 package. Maybe a small lift, 4a, better suspension tune. If tremor isn't coming anytime soon there is a big gap between raptor and fx4.
A dumbed down Raptor suspension, so Raptor control arms with standard shocks and a leaf spring rear suspension. Keep the options of the XLT FX4 package and give it the wheels and tires off the Raptor. Price it under $50k they would definitely sell.
