I just did my first oil change with 1200 miles and installed the Ronin plug. I used a Pella 6000 oil extractor first so I would not have 7 quarts of hot oil gushing out when removing the OEM drain plug. Worked out really well. I got nearly all of the oil I could from up top, removing the OEM drain plug only showed about 4oz of oil the extractor was not able to pickup. I've been extracting oil from my vehicles for decades and certainly makes things easier. Decided to do the Ronin plug because it will be even easier and faster doing the next oil change. Plus.. I just saw new aluminum skid plates will becoming available from Rival with a nice access panel for the drain. That's worth it just for the drain panel.

Which size option did you choose for the drain plug?

F150-Bronco-Raptor-Mustang size on the link above.

Also, you will need a 1/2" inside diameter tube if you want to control where the oil dumps out of the adapter.

And I just received my Rival mid skid plate yesterday that has the easy oil access panel. I'm not due for a change for another 2 months or so. Looking forward to putting that plate on and making the oil changes even easier.

Thank you for the reply,
That's interesting because I messaged Ronin on their websites live chat and they said the Bronco sport 1.5l plug would be my safest bet. Then i mentioned someone on this forum has one installed and was told to get the plug they choose. The tube is a nice suggestion I will do that for sure, and that skid plate is intriguing I will look into that.

no problem. Just to double check myself... here is the pic of the packaging showing the part from Ronin that's installed in my truck.

Finally hit 5k and used the Ronin plug tonight.

The .5” ID tubing is a must. Easily directs the oil where you want it.

Yes that’s my Pella pump extractor which absolutely works on this truck. The first time I changed oil I used the extractor. This time I just directed the oil (engine was at running temps) into the Pella container. I had to stop and dump into my larger container I take to dispose of the oil since it’s only a 6qt capacity. But it was still faster then doing the change top side.

Tip. My tube was cold when I started to screw in the adapter into the Ronin receiver. Made it a little more difficult since the tube was fighting the rotation while it was inserted into my Pella container. If it was free of rubbing on anything… no issue. But when I had to stop…dump..restart the plastic tube was hot and easily rotated as I screwed in the adapter into the Ronin receiver to continue the oil drain. Next time I will use my heat gun to warm
the tube up and it will rotate easily while inserted into my container.

Again. Only necessary to make it easier to rotate the adapter if the tube is fighting the rotation.

Over all. Very happy with the Ronin adapter. Reminds me of my Fumoto valves I use on all my previous vehicles. Very well engineered and if you do your own oil changes it’s worth the investment.

I also had a 2x10 piece of lumber under the driver front to tilt the truck towards the drain valve. Likely not necessary, but I had it in the garage.
