Cannot License New RR from Out-of-State Dealer.

Same. I’m in Seattle, bought RR from a Minnesota dealer last June and drove home. Had mn temp tags and a week later got everything I needed in mail from MN dealer. Had no issues at registration in WA.

Some misinformation in this topic. Owner of the dealership is off golfing or counting his gold collection, not waiting for angry customers to call him. Common for MSO to not be on site, especially in larger dealerships. Paid cash for a new Indian last month and didn’t receive MSO until last week.
Also many states won’t accept digital titles or MSO.
Colorado dealer gave you a 60 day temp tag no?

Just picked up my new 2025 RR in Colorado. Drove it home to Washington State. Great trip. Next day went to WA Dept of Licensing to pay vehicle taxes, registration, and Title. DOL said I needed a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) from Ford/Dealer. Contacted CO dealer who took several days to reply. Said "it would take 2-3 weeks". What? This is a one-page document that should be readily available and transmissible electronically. In other words... "immediate". I was told only one person in the back office does this and no-one-else seems to know anything about it. Very frustrating. Will follow-up and report progress. Meanwhile... Heads-up!

Like the color! I have a white 2024 licensed in Co bought in Wyo. went thru similar problems. In Co they normally don’t convert MSO to a title unless dealer has to b/c of their floor plan OR it was a demo. Once converted to title you cannot get another MSO from Ford. Washington should speak to DMV in Co so they can explain this. In my case CO lost MSO when mailed back to WYO. AND FOMOCO reissued MSO in 2-3 weeks as I remember. Sure ruins the new car smell!
I’d be in the middle of the WA DMV office IF the title was reassigned to you. Plain and simple there. My two cents!

Back again just re read your post! I’d be in the middle of the Dealers stuff in CO. They have the MSO or it’s being held by their bank as collateral. Or lost? If lost they can request a reissue from Ford. 2-3 weeks.

The lesson: The out-of-state Colorado Dealer did not provide all necessary docs when I purchased RR To drive Back to Washington. After a 1 hour dry-run at my DOL, dealer said “we’ll send in 2-3 weeks“. No apology. No explanation. three weeks goes by. Nothing. I insisted upon the GM’s contact info. His assistant called Same day. FedX arrived next day with my Docs. Nuff said! Hope that helps others in out-of-state deals.

Sorry you had to go through all the hassle. Guess it comes down to how many out of state deals a dealership has done. Luckily my out of state dealership had done lots of out of state sales. Paperwork was a breeze.

Lots of dealer have to borrow money to buy the trucks from Ford. I’ve been told that some finance companies hold the MSO until they receive payment for the truck. It then gets mailed to the buyer. Mine took two weeks to arrive.

This is likely the issue. Most dealers have floor plans over 5 millions dollars or more. Most have to finance these vehicles. Msos are not released to them until they pay off the unit. This process can take the banks, etc some time. So 2 yo 3 weeks is not out of line at all.

You should've recrived a tag that legally allows you to drive the vehicle for far longer than that period.

Instead of overreacting and assuming the worst, you should've talked to someone in the business so you'd know there is a legitimate reason for the time frame.

It all depends on who is their floorplan bank, how you bought your vehicle. If you financed it , who you financed it with, etc. Multiple variables are in place.

Now if your temp tag had expired and it's still not there, then there is an issue with the dealership you bought from.

My dealer (out of state) mailed all the paperwork straight to my local dmv and gave a tracking number. Took about 7-10 days to show up.

My vehicle arrived two days after purchase, paperwork two days later. All happened as I was told it would. This was the first time I bought a vehicle off the Internet, so I was a bit concerned about getting the title/MSO. It was sent to me by the salesman by way of trackable US Mail. I was updated on the movement of my truck and track of the paperwork daily by the salesman.
If this had been done for this gentleman he would not have been freaking out. Don't blame the customer, he deserved to be treated better than he was treated. Also the customer has not revealed the dealers name, a stand up gesture in my book. No trying to drag the dealership through the mud. He just wanted to register his vehicle and had questions the dealership was not answering.

Yep! Haven’t found a good reputable / dealer to purchase from in CO. Three of us had to go out of state to buy our Ranger Raptors. Ridiculous! And this buyer within thread should have not gone thru this angst. Where was the Finance people in the dealer at the time of the transaction!!
