I have had my 2024 4 x4 XLT for about 3 months now. 2300 miles on the odometer. For the most part, I like the truck. It does have too many electronic features for my taste. I should say that my last new truck was a 2004 Dodge Dakota, and my last truck I drove until I bought this Ranger, was a 2007 Dodge Dakota. My wife really wanted me to have all the safety electronic features. I am having an issue with the backup alert, hoping there is some way to fix this.
I live in a very hilly town, and my driveway is pretty steep. The issue, is that if I back down my driveway, the truck will slam on the brakes, let up, and do it again. I think its seeing the street asphalt, and thinks Im going to run into something. As you can imagine, when you first experience this, you immediately wonder wtf was that. Its happened to me, my wife, and my son. I now end up backing up my driveway. This is harder on the drive train, as well as a pain, as my driveway also curves.
Any thoughts on possible adjustments/fixes?

The system on my 6G is more sensitive than the one open my 5G was. If you know it's safe, you can just toggle the system off on the display. Mine somehow thinks the cracks in my road are dangerous around dusk. I just toggle the system off when I back up. It comes back on the next time you put it in reverse.

mine did it backing up my driveway with little to no incline. i cleaned the sensors and backup camera with quick detailer and a microfiber. i don’t know if that would work in all cases, but mine works fine now.

I do not think there is an adjustment for the rear parking aid. You may have to turn off the parking aid system to avoid it.

There isnt much you can do about the sensors, there is basically no calibration we can do. Also backing up up hill isnt harder on the drive train. If that was the case people who tow loads wouldnt want to back up.

The dealer showed me that it can be turned off in setting in the infotainment system. He said he turned his off because it was so sensitive a leaf blowing behind his truck would set it off. It happened to me tonight. Startled the c##p out of me.

I agree the system seems too sensitive. I've had it activate the brakes a handful of times when backing up in my gravel driveway.
