I've been thinking about adding a set of locked cabinets to my tray and having them be connected to the central locking.

Quotes from some body builders are gonna cost me an arm & a leg.

I've worked on auto electronics plenty before so thinking of giving this a go, my thinking is what if I was to take the stock +12V line for the existing central locking system, tap and redirect it to a relay as the trigger signal which will pull power from the battery and to the new central locking unit. This hopefully wont disrupt the Canbus system either.

Coming from my old Hilux this wasn't as big of an issue due to a far less locked down control module which had pins designated for aftermarket accessories.

The main question I had is where the central locking module or wiring loom is that I can tap into and whether anyone has had any similar experiences with these new rangers.

I haven't done it, but you should be able to tap into a lock soleniod. Question would be, does the soleniod use reverse polarity to reverse the lock/unlock, or use a 2nd winding? I'd bet in reverse polarity. You could use 2 diodes to select which relay to activate- lock or unlock, if reverse polarity. you'd have to figure that out. My 2c. Others may (Probably) have a better answer.

2 relays wouldn't be the worst thing. Hopefully it won't throw up a warning symbol or Canbus error in these vehicles. I found a previous upfitters thread on here, unsure if that applies to myself though since those auxillary switches are provided by Ford and conditioned only when the vehicle is on? I need my aftermarket central locking system to work at anytime like the stock central locking.
