This is weird. I'm looking at the 2024 Ranger manual and it calls for 6 qts for the 2.3. Look at the 2025, and it calls for 5.6. Is this a legitimate change or a misprint? I find it hard to believe that the same engine from last year would change oil capacity. I have a 2025 2.3 on order and I plan on just running an even 6 qts. Thoughts?

My wife's 2.5 liter mazda says the same thing. I finally just started putting 6 in and it works fine

I have no clue, but there is a 2.3 at least coming to the Explorers that has port/direct injection, and some other smallr evisions. I cant see it changing OC by .4qts, but its possible maybe the Ranger is getting it too? Though Ive heard nothing about it.

See the post titled New 2.3 for 2025 in Engines/Exhaust. I just made a comment on it. Supposedly it is the new Mustang engine with port and direct injection. I am getting my truck tomorrow and will confirm.....

Agree! Actually, Ranger overall gets very little marketing from Ford, unlike Maverick and F150. To me, Ranger is one of their best kept secrets.

Funny seeing this as my 24 Mustang manual said 9.5qts yet another variant of the manual said 10qts and then the 25 manual said 10 qts and you as the ford techs and they say the machines say 10.

Just to close the loop on this, as rangerjimm said, the 2024 and 2025 2.3L are two completely different engines. Different stroke. Different bore. Same displacement. Different compression. Change from belt driven oil pump to gear driven. Alternator location changes. Brake pump is electronic boosted instead of vacuum. Turbo becomes twin scroll and smaller bore making more mid range power. HP almost definitely goes up even if Ford isn't reporting it while 2024s still sit on lots. Electronic waste gate introduced.

Understandable. It's wishful thinking on their part. They have a 2024 and want to believe that somehow their year is superior (in my belief it's not). In addition to everything I have cited, the majority of 24s only support 85lbs at the bedrail without an add-on support part.
