Hello Ranger6G members. I would your opinion if this quote is responsible. Hard to find a truck with the options I want in this area. I may be close to closing the deal soon. Any thoughts?

$1748 in Fees? They are making up for the discount.

My dealer charged $599 for fees and a Tag in Kentucky is $22. Fees were $500 on our Outback.

Freaking Florida and their high Dealer Doc and Electronic Filing fee nonsense. I know from experience that pretty much every dealership in Florida through collusion does that crap. Only way to avoid it is to buy out of state.

The state taxes and tags are going to be what they are going to be, but the rest of that is taking it in the shorts.

The discount off MSRP is decent, the rest not so much.

This was the response back about questioning the high fees……

”The Electronic Filing Fee and Dealer Fee we have are actually quite low compared to other dealers. We can not negotiate on that. As far as the Tag, we estimate a new tag/title from the state of Florida to be right around $450. This can fluctuate depending on what Florida determines it will be when we finalize the deal in the system.”

Also no rebates or incentives.

Base XLT RWD start about $36K.
Go to Build and Price and plug in the options of this truck to compare prices.
It's possible they added the $2500 as ADM on the base XLT, then show a "discount" to make it
look attractive. No dealer around here would offer such a discount. Best I get is $750 directly from FoMoCo.

I'm 97% certain I was able to find that truck on the dealer's website. The MSRP matches the window sticker. It's a 4x2 XLT High with the advanced Towing.

They advertise a $2000 discount on their website, so OP is $500 better than that. Oddly, they don't advertise their dealer fees.....

Here is my math

FLHSMV:

Initial Registration Fee: $225
Trucks -based on weight (3,001 - 5,000 pounds): $32.50
(Motor Vehicle Title) Original New: $77.25
Total: $334.75

Dealer:

New Tag: $450
Electronic Filing Fee: $299
Total: $749

749 – 334.75 = $415.25 (Dealer Padding)

Even if they are added multiple year registration of the $32.50 fee, that would be about a 12 year tag to make up that difference.

"We can not negotiate on that. "
They just will not negotiate on it to maintain the facade.

Even with the fees that's a pretty good deal. If it has the features you want, I'd say jump on it.
I agree. I don't really care what the dealer writes down regarding "discounts" or "fees" or any of that crap. What matters is the out-the-door price. In this case, you're paying 600 bucks over MSRP, which sounds pretty damn good to me...
