This whole thing is one big emotional rollercoaster! I was told that an order was already scheduled. I later found out that the order that was scheduled was my stock build so as of now, I have a build date in September. I'm trying to not get overly excited about it until it's in my hands because it seems every week something changes.
Yes, it is one huge emotional roller coaster & it has been since day one that I placed my order on May 26th. First it’s retail, then stock & now back to retail. My order # changed from the initial retail order to my current retail order. Now I fear that I have lost my place in line as I found online where Ford says that oldest orders go first. Right now I’m so upset & disappointed that I have no words.
  • Scheduling of vehicle orders for production is dependent upon Ford's planned production, customer demand, the order in which they were submitted (the oldest first), and the availability of high-demand options which might be restricted by the capacity of our suppliers.

I've come to learn that order numbers don't matter. It really comes down to what the sales manager decides to submit for scheduling.

And what principal is that?

All I am saying is this particular principal may be nothing more than mislabled stubbornness. Value is in the eye of the beholder. You know what I think is infinitely more retarded than $5,000 ADM? People who spend $5,000 on a watch when the $5 Walmart special I have been using at my job for 5 years is still working fine. Its been soaked in water, banged against countless objects and it functions just fine. I would never spend that kind of money on a watch, but I also understand the people who do are nothing more than gatekeepers to their own standards.

People need to stop using the word "principal". It would be 100% more logical if people said, "I just don't see the value in the Ranger Raptor for the extra $5,000." How does someone argue that statement? They can't, because value is determined by the buyer.

Like when someone asks, "Why did you spend $5,000 more on the Raptor?" and my response is "Because I can." It could be what we would call an affirmative defense (metaphorically) in my world. It is a defense for which no rebuttal can win.

Generally something labeled as a principal is something with noble connotations. "I order 4 tires and they accidently send me 8 tires. I need to call them back and see if they want these extra tires back". That would be a good example of a personal principal. I actually had that happen to be once. Ordered a few cases of ammo and they accidently sent me a duplicate order. I called them, they sent me an RMA, and I shipped it back.

The only way you "win" (for lack of a better description) is not to buy an RR at all, because if you wait you are going to be paying more in the future than now without ADM coming into play.
I think you're taking offense to something where no offense was intended. I have nothing against you or anyone else willing to pay ADM. My gripe is with the greedy dealers charging markups specifically against Ford's wishes.

That's the principle I'm standing on; not giving these blood-sucking dealers more money for a product they neither made, nor put any more money or effort to acquire than any other vehicle they sell.

Don't get the wrong idea, I know you are not meaning any offense, I'm just tossing that out there.

Again, this seems like a silly stance to take if the RR still meets your personal value threshold, even at $5,000 more. The percentage at play here is actually pretty weak if you want to compare it to every day mark up on random crap we all buy from retail stores across all categories.

I mean I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but the mark up on off-road products is astronomically hilarious in a lot of categories.

Those $360 ROAM cases that everyone loves? I know where you can get the same item that uses the same rotomold injection setup for $120 each if you order straight from the Chinese factory and don't mind the wait while it travels to you on boat.

Got a call from my regular dealer today who supposedly didn't get a stock allocation that I could put an order in retail. I feel like they were pushing me off until they could do retail. I do have a stock order in at another dealership, but I'm number 3 and didn't get to pick my color. I feel like retail may be the way to go... or at least hedge bets
Is that your older ranger? The Black one pictured - maybe a '19? That's a really nice looking rig!

Well, that was my Ranger. I loved everything about the truck, except for the narrow bed. I do lots of projects and I was getting very irritated with the inability to move 4 foot sheets of anything. Also, my four wheeler wouldn’t fit in well. Right when they used car market was heating up I sold it to Carvana for $1000 more than I paid for it. I took that money and got an F150 using Xplan pricing right before they stop taking it. I miss that truck ever since. F150 is like driving a boat. Can’t wait for the raptor

These are first-run issues that can happen with anything. They'll all get figured out under warranty. What makes a truck good is the capability and how comfortable and enjoyable it is to drive. I had a Tacoma when they were seen as the most reliable truck you could buy. I had issues the first 5k miles where I had to drive a Prius loaner for a week while they figured it out. Every manufacturer goes through this and I'm not going to hold it against GM.

Even the new Rangers were getting stories in Australia where bad things were happening with them.
I totally agree with the part of your post here I bolded. It seems to directly contradict what you replied in post #224 above where you said, "I don't need to drive the truck to know it's good, just look at the stats." Seems a little confusing here?

In my criteria I would also add value for the $ and of course past personal experience if we've had them.

YMMV

I agree with what you added, value for $ is important.

I was not being contradictory because in 2023 pretty much every car in that price range will be comfortable to drive. I can tell you with full confidence that the next Mercedes S class will be comfortable to drive and I've never even seen one.

The "enjoyable" to drive part is a bit more subjective but we can look at the objective facts through the stats. That is the power and torque. Every next-gen mid-sizer has plenty of power and torque which will translate to enjoyable to drive.

This is why everyone on these forums looking to get a RRaptor is willing to do so without ever having driven one.
