Ive started reaching out to some Chevy dealerships about a sand dune metallic ZR2 to my specs. I'm sort of split on my order for the RR at this point.
Man, you were so hyped on the Raptor. What happened?

about the only reason I’m still considering taking deliver of my Raptor is the TT 3.0 and the new rear suspension. Pretty much everywhere else the Canyon/Colorado has it beat. If I could smash the two trucks together I would because somethings that are missing on the GM are on the Raptor and vice versa.

my biggest hang-up with the Raptor is no physical diff-lock toggle (if the screens go out you’re not locking anything up), no rear vents, and no factory rock sliders.
I mean honestly yea to you points above, but even more so... I think the ZR2 trim just, well - looks better. More aggressive, etc etc.

But giving up that suspension and V6 TT engine is a big pill to swallow. lol

And I think the Raptor interior is WAY better than the ZR2.

I see watching review videos that Chevrolet has gotten into the piano black trim crap. And those camo accents trim with yellow stitching? What? Why? Barf. I would have to dust off my vinyl wrapping skills for sure.

I think the most exciting part was the thrill of the hunt. Now that I captured the game I'm kind of deflated over the whole thing.

I'd still much prefer the Raptor, but if the right ZR2 came along exactly how I wanted....

That and lets face it, we are talking about a $10,000+ cheaper truck. lol

Yeah I hear ya. If ZR2s were on the lot at any of my dealerships, I would probably be tempted too.

And it is only the specific sand dune color that just does it for me. I don't really have any interest in any of the other colors.

I used the view inventory tool on GM’s website when I was searching for an AT4X. Literally called one dealership, inquired about the truck they had in transit, and $1000 later it was reserved for me. Was told 6-8 weeks and then 10 days later got a call saying hey your truck is here.

Ford seems to be doing the opposite. We're told 10 days and then 6-8 weeks later they tell us another 10 days.

I know that pain as a previous Maverick reservation holder. 12 months later I finally got the call that my truck had arrived. Sorry guy, that ship sailed.

I ended saying to heck with all of this. The fuel economy, the prices, for a truck with interior room that hasn't improved and capability that hasn't improved either. I crossed the Colorado, Taco, and Ranger all off the list and went the opposite direction. Bought a nice used F-250 for $43k. Low miles, clean Carfax, fuel mileage in the high teens, and it's got lots of space and capability. I just feel like I got a lot more truck for less money. Sure, it's not new. But it has 48k bumper to bumper warranty which is more than I would have had with a new little truck.

Just spent the weekend towing 8,000 lbs. Saw 12.5 MPG. I'll bet this truck will do 20 on the highway.

I am about to secure a sand dune zr2 with the specs I want here shortly this morning. Once that goes through I am done with the chapter in my life.

Best part? It is in transit and will be at the dealership, which is only 150 miles from me, on August 28th. Less than 2 weeks. Original buyer flaked on them. One mans trash is another mans treasure as they say.

And I get to save money in my wallet as icing on the cake.

Yea its a slight downgrade (mostly interior complaints for me), but more than capable truck.

Sorry Ford.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it! The ZR2 has definitely been on my radar but the leaf springs are my biggest hang-up right now. Just built one to my liking for $52,430.

Well the deed is done. Paid the deposit to secure the order.

I don't think I will be back in the Ford stable until they can become stable (har har) in production as well as start cracking down on ADM madness.

There are some Chevy dealerships adding ADM, but the vast majority (90%) I spoke to while hunting down a ZR2 in the specs I wanted do not have ADM.

I'll probably still hang around my old stomping grounds over at Ranger5G - but no point in me spamming my opinions here. Thanks everyone.

Sorry to see you go, but congrats on the ZR2. Honestly, it'll be a great truck. Better to start making memories sooner than waiting around indefinitely.

Congrats on the Colorado. I have yet to see a ZR2 in person but Chevy has done a really good job with the new generation and the models I have seen are impressive. If they offered a different interior color I would almost definitely end up going that route as well.
