Cost was US$144 shipped, with no sales tax. It shipped the next day, but took about ten days to get here to Washington State. They are nicely made and I think the cost is fair. They are powder coated stainless, in a very heavy gauge.

Why do you need them? The sensors and their wires are vulnerable to gravel strikes. My left sensor cable was not secured correctly - the guide support leg/ pin was never pushed into the hole on top of the bracket:

Even with that fixed, the cable stuck out sideways where it can get hit:

Push the cable over the lip of the sensor so it stays behind it:

That still leaves the sensor itself and these exposed wires at risk:

You need an 8mm wrench and socket, about 24" of 1/2 " plastic wire "split loom", and some silicone sealer. Optional is four 3/16" stainless flat washers to put under the bolt heads. Add the split loom to all of the exposed sensor cable, on each side of the guide pin, and add big dab of sealer AFTER installing the guards, with the bottom loop pushed inwards all the way. The sealer keeps it from moving and the split loom protects against gravel strikes and chafing against nearby steel parts. See pics! The rear nuts are a little hard to reach, you can get them back on from the rear (axle side) of the mount. ***The reason you add the sealer afterwards is that it will get all over your hand if you try it before ;( ***

More pics, from the opposite side.

The sensor, connector plug and cable are fully protected from LIGHT strikes. The trailing arm bracket and its dinky little control rod are still a little vulnerable, I don't know of a way to help that, except be SURE to add large front mudflaps if you drive on gravel:

If a Raptor owner has experienced gravel strikes or worse damage on the sensors, I would appreciate some pictures in this thread. Thanks!

Watch the YouTube video from Buckle Up Buttercup. She was driving RR through water and sensor disconnected, threw all kind of warnings. They found problem after awhile. She now sells a sensor cover on her website...

I would like to know what the material is - stainless? - and I have to comment that once the plug gets yanked off, it ain’t gonna stay reconnected, the plastic retaining tab in the sensor or in the plug, or both, will be damaged. Also in the videos the guy just plugs it back in without cleaning out the mud and water from the parts, that isn’t good at all!.

I think the RA Ranger one offers better protection (more sides covered.) I would probably have bought the BU parts if I had known about them, but I have zero regrets about the Aussie kit. Any style is better than none at all. This should be factory equipment!

these are a decent band-aid but I'll be relocating ours in a much more protected position.

Are the washers just to prevent the nut locking or is it a spacing thing?

Thanks for the write up John! Back ordered now but defiantly a must when they restock. So now I know of you in Spokane and one more in Snohomish, that makes three of us in Washington. Love Spokane, I grew up in Pullman and spent a couple of years up there at SFCC before back to WSU.

It is standard practice to have a washer under the head of a bolt to spread the load and protect the surface finish. Normally the nuts would also have washers, but the Ford ones are free spinning with serrated faces to act as self locking, you could replace them with nylocks (nylon self locking) and add washers there too….

Of course, adding washers makes the truck heavier and slower ;)

Please start a new thread about that! Where do you plan to put the sensors and arms?

Thanks,

Yeah I would agree, but its a non-load bearing piece, so was just curious if it was for spacing or because its going to ruin my gas mileage because i added them lol. Thanks, book marked this for when my truck comes in.

Yeah, she had her product ready to go, the same day she discovered the "problem". Sounds a little iffy to me. IMHO, she had a solution, looking for a problem and manufactured a video.

I signed up for notification once they come back into stock.
Looks like it would be good idea to protect those sensors with something like these sensor guards.
I plan to order set whenever they come back into stock.
