Can anyone please tell me where, in a 2024 Ranger XL with tow pkg, are the wires that can be connected to an aftermarket trailer brake controller?

E-trailer has a pigtail that has a connector to the back of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, and wires that are to be connected to the truck's wiring, but has no connector or info about how to find the truck's wires to connect to.

I would really appreciate seeing photos if someone's got them!

keep us posted. On 5G XL Rangers, there were no trailer wiring under dash unless you added the tow package. It bugs me yet again that Ford doesn't have the TBC standard on all trucks, and that it's not even available on the 6G XL.

ugh, this the -one- thing that I almost didn't pull the trigger to buy a local Ranger that was missing the advanced tow package vs the one I ordered (which one month after I purchased has FINALLY shipped). Why is a brake controller so friggin absent on a truck that says it can tow 7500?? I mean, if your trailer is 7500 lbs, don't you have to have a TBC? So annoying. Mine's a Lariat so maybe there is a connector for this trim, but every truck should have one IMO....yes I know there are bluetooth or other options, but with all the advanced electronics it would be nice to be integrated...

Doubt it. The wiring diagrams I referenced above, includes all trims and even the Raptor models.

Well maybe they will end up with something like this that they had for the 2023s. What i can't figure out though is where the dial would go - there is no blank panel. https://accessories.ford.com/ranger-2019-2021-trailer-brake-control-towing-pack-3

Not sure how to read the document you posted, but I wonder if the TCM that is on our trucks have a socket (where it shows LIN, VAT37) that eventually when they publish a Ford Accessory brake controller would plug into.

Anyone know where the TCM is and/or had a look at it already?

I had a 2020 with a factory tow package. On the 5G there wasn't a factory TBC option, but there was a dealer installed option later. Tucked slighty up behind the drivers kick panel was a insulated set of wires for a brake controller. I added one. It was the returns for the 7 pin and a Power and a Gnd? too if i remember correctly. If your truck has the regular tow package with the 7 pin then those wire have to go somewhere. They are for a brake controller, so they have to terminate somewhere.

Thanks for that! I tried looking up and feeling all under the dash but found nothing. So I started pulling trim. Wish I had better news but no connector behind this trim part which I believe is where the controller is installed with the advanced tow package. I am not good at tracing the diagram either, but I think I found the trm with two connectors in place. If this is it then maybe at some point ford sells a dongle that goes with the tbc to install on right of steering wheel

first pic is of the trim piece pulled out some
Second pic is looking behind it. Not much to see but all I was able to find is the wire for the ambient light
Last pic is from the left side behind the hood latch. Couldn’t see labels on those two connectors but I am thinking that module is the trm. Except the wire colors don’t match the diagram posted earlier so maybe it isn’t? Can’t see anything else that would resemble that. So I’m at a loss

So, I've been on a mission since seeing your post :) I am a newbie at all this so no real expertise here.... See my earlier post that has a pic of what I am assuming is the TRM module. After googling the part # seen in the photo, I'm pretty confident that my assumption is correct : https://dealer.parts.ford.com/shop/...cket-module-trailer-brake-p-nz6z19h332a?pdp=y (it's for a Maverick, but I think the Ranger is just not updated yet). Not much info but since the part number matched a trailer brake assembly, that seems at least that confirm those two connectors would be the ones with trailer wiring going into a tow module.

Now the hard part from there is to find out which wires that have to be tapped in for the after market controller. To that end I have no idea. Hootbro posted a picture of the wiring, however the colors from my photo do not seem to match what is seen in the diagram. So, this is where I am stuck.

Why oh why did Ford make this so hard!!!! F150s have the harness sitting behind a panel and they sell a TBC that pops into place....

Hi Craigc,

You've done a lot of work; thanks!

Please excuse my ignorance- If you've found the trailer module, does that mean that the trailer brake controller (TBC) wires have to plug into it so the module can then send the TBC current signals through wires that terminate in the 7 prong plug at the rear of the truck near the bumper? Does that also mean there has to be either a plug receptacle in the trailer module or wires coming out of the trailer module to connect to the plug or wires coming from the TBC? If so, shouldn't we be able to find them?

Hi Rangerdangerstranger: Do you know if an added TBC gets wired (or plugged) into the TRM? Thanks.
