The wireless charging unit heats up my phone after charging for a while. Anyone else having this issue? I'm using a samsung galaxy s24.

I have been using my wireless charger with my Samsung Galaxy Fold 6. Just based on my experience, the better case for the phone you have, the less it heats up during any type of wireless charging. These phones do typically run warm though.

There was another thread about over heating with the wireless charger. It was happening with iPhones and Android phones. I have a Pixel 8 and it happened to me. I haven't used it again. Hopefully a software update will fix it

My iPhone gets warm when wireless charging in the console - not hot to the touch, but definitely warm. FWIW, it does the same thing in my wife’s Subaru wireless console charger. I think it’s something specific to the wireless charging system, not the phone itself.

My Pixel8 heats up so I don't use it. FWIW I wireless charge at home all the time without the phone heating up.
My iPhone 15 heats up. And it really hit us one day when I was using Waze with CarPlay and the phone shut itself off in over heat mode right as I was getting to the final turns to my destination and then I had to stop and wait for it to cool down before I could make it to final destination! I couldn't even use the built in maps because my phone had the address on it. Next time I'll use both the built in nav and the phone together (I still prefer Waze, but am glad the Ranger has built in Nav to back it up). I really hope the overheating could be fixed, but I doubt it. My wife just got a new Kia so I'll be seeing if it has the same issues or not on our next long drive.

Wireless charging is grossly inefficient and the charger in these trucks is not the best. The thicker the phone case, the warmer it will get. I take mine out of the case, otherwise heat gets excessive and will put my phone in overheat mode. I run Android Auto full time so I probably use more charge than I gain. If on long trips and I need to charge, I'll just plug in via USB. If I'm just trying to mitigate power loss, I'll take it out of the case and charge it with a lot less heat build up then in the case. So thin or no case if wireless charging will be your best bet.

My wife and I lovingly refer to any built-in wireless chargers in a car as a phone warmer, because that's all they really do. It's pretty wild how bad they are across the board

The stupid iPhone 16 Pro camera bump is so ridiculously big, it lifts the back of the phone too high to get a proper charging connection. The charging indicator on my phone is constantly turning on and off because of this. I'm sure if I had a phone case that made the back flush, it would be fine, but I hate using phone cases.
