Why is the downloaded AsBuilt configuration of the IPMA module vastly different to what's actually configured?

Hi

I have a Ranger Wildtrak RB.

First, I downloaded the AsBuilt file from https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt for my VIN.

Then I saved all my module configuration settings using FORScan.

Then I used the AsBuiltExplorer to compare the downloaded AsBuilt files vs. my configured AsBuilt settings.

I found many differences.

Can anyone tell me why and if this is something to be concerned about?

I think a lot of the IPMA settings change with operation of the vehicle - some are static configuration, and others are dynamic. For the 706-29 you show in the screen shot, this is labeled by Ford as "SensorCfg_DPAC_Homography3 (SCDPACH) ". I don't know exactly what that means, but considering there is no option to change it according to the spreadsheet, it's likely just a data register for the vehicle operation that likely not only differs from asbuilt, but changes over time as you drive. It's possible dealer or manufacture updates tweak them as well when you bring it for service.

You can also see things change like IPMA 706-32-01 that saves your settings of the Adaptive Cruise Control following distance that you last selected on the steering wheel. Other settings on the infotainment Sync also will update some parameters dynamically.

Similarly, I've seen other parameters, like Bdycom 726-51 that I found out has to do with the pushbutton keypad that I had installed at the dealer. Every time the keypad is used, codes change in that location, so it is never the same one day to the next.

Anyway, I think the short of it is to go to the Forscan spreadsheet (search the forum for the Forscan crowdsourced forum), and if you're really curious about any setting, go to the respective tab for the function (IPMA, etc) and you can see if a setting is configurable or not. Keep in mind that this sheet was derived from the F150 forum and is slightly out of date. I don't know how to get a more up to date one specifically for the Ranger. My knowledge on all this has been self taught since purchasing my truck in June, so I have no real background in this stuff - just a curious engineer mind :)

My car doesn't have the front parking sensors. I'm trying to activate them via forscan so I can buy and install them. I've read in the F150 forum that I had to access the IPMA module so I can change the 4CH parking sensor to 8CH parking sensor. As it turns out, either my car doesn't have the IPMA module or it's not showing in my forscan. :(
