I saw this on Youtube a few months ago, It's too easy and too good not to share, Just completed it, Easy too.

So, to keep leaves and stuff from flying out of the giant holes in the back of the extender, a guy found these gutter gaurds that fit perfect, Compress the edge, cut to size and Tek-screw in. was done in like 1.5 Hr.

Looks like a good idea, though I do have times when I need to poke something through the extender. I would probably do something that allows easy installation and removal, maybe with a spring and hook latch onto the rails instead of self-tapping screws.

It looks like I’m not the only one that wishes that they had the time or skill to do this!
if you ever decide to make / sell this as a complete product or kit, please let me know!
I would buy it in a heartbeat. It may even be worth a quick patent application, so you could approach the current manufacturer of the tailgate extender (TAPCO?) about selling them the idea!
you came up with a great idea that would solve a lot of problems, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t get compensated for it!

How about this reason... " I saw this on Youtube a few months ago, It's too easy and too good not to share, Just completed it, Easy too. "

If you own a Drill with a torque clutch, and a set of sheet metal cutters, Some tough 100 grit sand paper or a fine file, All pretty cheap and available at any hardware store, you can do this.

You'll need some #10 3/4" long, 1/4" head, self tapping screw, AKA Tek Screws, about 50. They can be had in a box of 50. like 10 bucks.
The strips are just 4 bucks apeice, linked above, you'll need 6, but can get a few extra, in case your not perfect.

Crush the top folded edge, take it over to your extender, set it in there and mark the end you need to cut. Take note that it has a habit of being a little short, so you may want to over cut it at first, cut 3 connectors at a time, just at the point where the little wires come together, all the way up.
Carefully lightly sand them a bit,

Use this piece to get the length for the second piece. It may also work for the other 2 pieces, but the far side may have a slightly different length, depending on how you put your extender together.

Set the piece in there, curv it, let it set naturaly, then simply load up a tek screw and find your first location in the middle of a small wire oval. The aluminum is soft, and the screw will drill it's owm hole and then thread in and then stop and your torque clutch spins, start the clutch at about 7, you can always increase it if the screw stops or you want it in farther.

Just go around, you can see what was done, being carful to keep the screens straight and try to place the screws symetricly and so that they grab enough screen to be as tough as they can be.

The Vevor extened is only about $100 bucks. This project almost does itself. Think you'll be happy with the results!
