Stake pocket shims

Like it or not, if we want to attach accessories to the bed rails, we need to use a shim. I’m planning to attach a piece of extruded aluminum on each side to support a bed rack I use to haul mountain bikes and/or camping gear.

This is my winter project so we are ready for spring. Today, I measured the stake pockets. I attached details for those who may want to sort out the shims for themselves.

I found something interesting - it seemed as though a piece of aluminum I work with would fit this opening. I confirmed that 4080 t-slot fits in perfectly. It also appears as though the centre bores will line up with the holes in the bottom of the stake pockets. This is great news for me, as I can run a bolt from the horizontal t-slot rail, through these vertical shims, and use another plate and nuts to secure this while it is still removable.

I did the same basic thing, but with 1.5x3" aluminum barstock and drilled my own holes so I could run M10 hardware.

sure, you could take that photo of measurements, upload it, and they could cut them all out based on your drawing.
