Waiting on a RR build.. IF it gets built hopefully (still no build date and I know they just closed the order window - will see if mine makes the cut or gets bumped to a 2025…)
I checked out a 24 Colorado ZR2 for kicks and giggles today. Honestly not a bad truck at all but that engine does not hold a candle to the 3.0 6 twin turbo. The ZR2 felt ok compared to say my current truck (22 Nissan Frontier ProX) but honestly I didn’t feel too much better in it. Driving the RR in sport mode I felt a HUGE difference in power.
some things Chevy did do right though. Overall I really like the look of the ZR2, even compared to the RR. Don’t get me wrong the RR is bold and aggressive looking as well, but I’m definitly going to have to mod the RR a bit (amber lights, paint that stupid silver bumper, paint exhaust black, red tow hooks and red outlined Raptor decals) to get it looking how I want, whereas the ZR2 I would drive stock. Also, I actually like the center console better in the ZR2. The hard buttons, screen etc all flow nicely and have a clean look.
Other nice features I wish ford had opted for… vented ac seats, rear ac, 70/30 split in rear seats, sunroof and surprisingly, the fact that you can change the instrument cluster to full size google maps gps is really nice.
what I didn’t like in the ZR2 as much as I do in the Raptor were the seats, the amount of storage you have in the RR, the backseat space (the Zr2 felt tiny), the narrower bed, the fact that there’s NO SPORT MODE (really?!), and that engine and exhaust are definitly weak in comparison.
ZR2 is super nice, and considering it’s about $8k cheaper it’s definitely something to think about but overall I’m happy I went with the RR.
Now… never been in a ford and I’ve heard horror Ford stories, but hoping most of that doesn’t pertain to their “high end” performance vehicles
