Thanks again - all this is super helpful!! Maybe I will give the intech another look. Glad to hear the tow experience has been a good one. I have the same issue with the full size raptor discussion. I do like this truck though (also my first truck).
The Range Raptor hits a sweet spot. Size wise not too big, so that it works in city traffic. Capable enough offroads, utility up the jing yang, and can tow just enough.

Going to a larger tow truck, you lose a lot of the nimbleness that makes the Ranger fun, while you are not towing things.

Connecting and disconnecting the Andersen - especially if the truck is at a slightly angle - is much easier if you shorten the chains and add these turnbuckles. With the tongue raised six inches using the jack, you can loosen one or both by hand to get the whale tail pin hole to align, then readjust them by hand before you lower the tongue back down. This way you never have to mess with the big chain nuts. Do not try to adjust chain tension using the turnbuckles! Others have used chain binders (with levers) but they seem a little bulky to me.

That looks like an interesting solution. Says 3500lbs load. Do you have any understanding what the dynamic load is, especially if mounted longitudinal ?

The referenced Oliver thread talks about that, and Andersen’s customer service opinion. I have never heard of anybody having a problem with this mod. It should be a factory design IMHO.

Hi Guys - I just wanted to thank you again for your help. I ended up going with an Airstream Caravel 16 and Anderson hitch with a 6" drop (they needed all of it too). The hitch leveled things out nicely and is so easy to connect/disconnect. No sway issues at all although I only had 400 miles home from the dealer. (Colonial Airstream which was absolutely 1st class)

Raptor tows absolutely great - hardly know it is back there and all the towing tech has worked as advertised. (minus the backup assist which I have not tried yet)

Thanks again!

Sweet. Looks similar to my setup here.
