Good morning everyone. Just bought a new Raptor and had a few questions. What is the best tonneau cover for my ranger? I don’t plan often to put tall items in the bed. Also would you recommend a spray in bed liner and why? Finally lol what kind of gas mileage are you all getting in your Raptors, I realize I only have a hundred miles on her…

Congratulations on your Ranger, Shawn! We'd love to see pictures of your truck. We hope you find everything you're looking for here on the forum!

I don't have a Raptor but if you want a tonneau cover look at Bison Tonneau Covers way cheaper than most brands and does the same thing as more expensive ones. I have bedliner in mine. Always have on all my trucks just protects it and keeps it looking good. Mileage I can't answer as I have the Lariat FX4 with 2.3 and I and getting 28 mpg(Canadian).

Here is a pic of my tonneau cover.

I wish we could get Bison covers in the US (seem like a great value and cover the leaky stake pockets) but they won't ship here. I still am not sure what I want to go with. I had a Truxedo Sentry on my Colorado and I found the hard roll up to likely be the best type of cover for me. It offers security, almost full bed access when rolled up, rear window visibility when rolled up and was easily removable if I wanted full bed access. They are pricey though. I am averaging close to 18 mpg combined (usually one 250 mile trip to the mountains and two 15 mile work commutes) with over 20 mpg on my roundtrips up to the mountains. I use 91 octane. The only long highway trip I've done was around 16 mpg but it was 1,000 miles into a bad headwind.

Congrats!
First thing I’d do is have it professionally ceramic coated to help keep that black truck shiny. Next is have the bed LineX coated Unless you only plan to store pillows and marshmallows in back.

Here's the mileage I get from mine. Round trip from ATX to Cahone, CO. Plus, a few trips through the San Juan Forest.

We sailed through the roads, look at the average speed. I checked the actual mpg on Trip 2. The calculated mpg is close enough.

The picture was taken after I parked the truck on the driveway
