I ordered my Ranger XLT on 5/27/23 from my nearest local dealer. It finally entered production on 1/8/24, blend 1/8/24, after which it's been sitting on Ramp 59 for 15 weeks and counting. Neither Ford, nor my dealer, would cough-up any information of any kind as to what the delay is, or when the truck would show-up.

This morning (4/23/24), I escalated the situation with management at the local dealer, and while they did calm my anger level down a notch or three, they still could not (or would not) provide any information, or agree to even try to extract any from Ford. I spent the day deciding what's next.

Decided to pop into a different, much larger dealership just to look at a 2024 Ranger in-person for the first time, and make sure it was even the truck I wanted. Was shown a basic white fleet order XLT, but it reaffirmed the choice. Left the dealership.

Got a call not 10 minutes after I left; a Ranger nearly identical to my original order literally just arrived at the larger dealer — abandoned special order, blend 3/14/24, with everything I'd ordered plus the tech package I hadn't. Put a deposit down, and expect to take delivery this weekend or before. Called the original dealer and told them they can keep the original truck… Whenever Ford decides to ship it. (June? July? August? Any wagers?)

To all of you who are still sitting around waiting for your trucks stuck in purgatory like so many of them are, I'd be finding your Plan B. Inventory is out there, you just have to find it… Something my original ordering dealer was utterly useless in helping with as well.

Still angry at Ford, and how they (didn't) handle this. But apparently not angry enough to settle for a Tacoma...

I've looked around and only found 4 that are at dealerships. 2 white bleh and 1 lariat that's close to what I ordered.

I've even started eyeing F-150's but i really don't want that big of a truck

If you want a Ranger of any type you should go to a Large volume dealership. They have leverage and that’s a fact I have gotten from multiple Ford sources

I did the same thing. My original order wasn't going to arrive until August/September so I was able find one at another dealership with the options I wanted.

Maybe I just got really lucky... Who knows. I was contemplating the F-150 as well momentarily.

I really like the Rangers. I just wish Ford wasn't jerking so many of us around. As I told my dealer, I really don't mind the wait... What I DO mind is no information, no date, no sense of urgency, no apology, nothing...

And I think that's the bottom line. The dealer 5 minutes from my front door is small. They've only had one single 2024 Ranger delivered, and two in the pipeline (including my original) are stuck in Ramp 59 purgatory.

The dealer I actually will be getting it from is Phil Long Ford in Denver, ~40 minutes from home. They have inventory stuffed into every corner of multiple storage lots, including multiple Rangers (although most right now are blah white and fleet-targeted). It's abundantly clear that volume = leverage = inventory.

Wanted to support the local guys down the street... So much for that idea.

I endorse the OP's strategy. Y'all need to get Plan B faster than an Only Fans content creator.

I concur. I have a plan B in the works also.

Ford has treated their most loyal customers like crap by making them wait the longest with no explanation or apology.

My original order (May 26, 2023) is still in purgatory at MAP with a family of possums likely squatting in the engine compartment. My second order (plan B) shipped, but the semi drove right past my dealership, then continued on the highway eight hours to the next biggest city where it is expected to sit for three weeks. Why? No one can/will tell me.

Meanwhile, people that ordered their truck in February have received them already.

I have a plan C in the works if Ford can't deliver either my plan A or B in the next month. I will get a Tacoma.

Bingo, and bluntly, it's bullshit. I've heard here (and elsewhere) every excuse under the sun for the purgatory trucks... Fit-and-finish, ECM software, supply chain, "deep" quality checks on specific inventory, blah blah blah. Sorry, all of it's B.S.

My original dealer yesterday studied the data briefly and surmised that it was the spray-in bed liner that was holding their two purgatory orders back; well, also B.S. — literally every Ranger the second dealership has, has the spray-in. The only upside is that it's not just buyers annoyed, my original dealer wasn't real happy about the situation either. Ford's bungled this rollout, and doesn't seem to care about anything other than pushing more newly-produced volume out, as quickly as possible.

I hope you get your Plan B truck. TBH, until the second option showed-up for me yesterday, I was done anyway. This isn't worth being screwed around by Ford, and I didn't need the truck — I wanted it. Totally optional, and one might imagine the type of buyer Ford would most want to court if they're playing a numbers game.

Pretty much sums up my feelings right now. Will the Job 2 rollout be F’d up as bad as build 1?

I’m getting ready to sell my daily driver and use my bronco until Raptor shows up. Hopefully my June build isn’t botched.

Reason why I am selling my economy daily is someone offered me 10k for my 10 year old beater Subaru. Dealer would only give me 3-4K on trade in. Since the used market has tanked I jumped on it. Waiting on few minor things before I get cashier check for Subaru!

This sentence raises red flags for me. Scammers are notorious for using fake cashier checks. The checks are very real looking and sometimes your bank will even deposit the ammount, but they will not clear and the funds will be reversed from your account a few days later.

Just a heads up.

I will be going to her bank and doing the notary with Bank Teller for bill of sale and she will work with the teller for Cashier check in my name. She is an older lady. She is also paying the mechanic shop in town for an inspection before purchase. Does that seem to be red flag still to you?
