I thought some of you would enjoy this video on the new KO3s. It looks like BFG did a minor update to them. I'm wondering if the new RRaptors will come equipped with the updated design?

I watched this video the other day. From what I gathered, the K03 that comes on the RR is specifically designed for it. While the updated version is more for trucks equipped with a lot more torque and towing things(hence the linked center blocks).

I haven't watched the video but are they comparing the same sizes in the same construction?

It's not uncommon for manufacturers to have slightly different molds for each different size or weight rating. Highly common.

Yes, the two tires he's showing are the same size.

It looks like he's saying BFG improved the design to work with everything, including the trucks with more torque and towing ability. I suspect future rraptors will be released with the new tires, but I could be wrong.

Id be surprised if that were the case. Just like someone else mentioned in the comments of that video, the Michellin Cup2R tires that you can buy off the shelf are not the same as the ones designed for Porsche and yet different again for the C8 Corvette.

I wonder what the trade off between the two designs are. For me, if the newer designed link center blocks add better dry grip for handling, then thats where Id be down to try. I dont really go in mud/sand to necessitate the deeper channels.

Not sure if this is the case but it’s not uncommon for a manufacturer to have differing tire designs for OE applications even on identical labeled tires.

Absolutely. OE tire specs can be very different than aftermarket, even for the same tire size, model, and construction.

I used to work at a tire company that played this game a ton. Sometimes OE is better than aftermarket, sometimes not.
