I’ve had my XL since May. I drive mostly city in eco mode. I like the auto s/s feature and it’s worked fine until now.

The last 2 days the ignition does not turn off at lights, etc when normally it would. The feature is engaged and I have not disabled it. I know it doesn’t work while the engine is still coming up to temp, or fan is on high to cool the car, etc but that’s not what’s happening here. Yesterday I went all day without the engine once turning off when it normally would.
Anyone else experienced this?

Below is out of the owners manual:

The system does not stop the engine if:

• The driver door is open.
• Your vehicle is at high altitude.
• The heated windshield is on.
• The engine is warming up.
• The outside temperature is too low or
too high.
• The battery charge is low.
• The battery temperature is outside the
optimal operating range.
• The engine is required to run to
maintain interior climate and reduce
fogging.
Coming from a Jeep Gladiator with a similar system, 90% of the start/stop problems were low battery state of charge issues once all the other criteria was eliminated.

Ford does seem to have a reputation for crap OEM batteries. Not saying it is exactly your case but something to keep in mind why you work through the issue.

I wonder what temperature "too high" is for the outside temp too high. I think it might be boiling temperatures, as the other day my truck read 105 degrees and the darn thing still auto stopped (and of course came back on in 5 seconds to kick the a/c again)...

What the hell is "The heated windshield is on". Why don't they just say defrost is on. :D
