I am curious if anyone has installed something like a Putco switchblade LED strip light on the back of their 6th gen Ranger.

I found where some guys have installed them on their 5th gen Rangers and quite a few F150 install videos and the like.

No, I have not, but when I asked my sales guy if there is a auto start/stop hack for these he mentioned that people using those kind of lights inadvertently disable the ass feature. Can you, or anyone that may have already done this, let me know if you experience this please? Please no one turn this thread into this subject, on behalf of CC1999. Someone can start a new thread if it so happens works.

No worries, I welcome that info.

That’s a big part of what I am wanting to know, or learn with this thread is if there is any possible way to use any sort of redundant lighting like this on the rear of one these trucks, without the truck thinking it has a trailer.

It is because it triggers the truck to think it has a trailer, the truck shuts down rear park sensors, the blind side monitors are shut off by default, the cross traffic alert is also disabled. There is just multiple issues caused by letting it think there is a trailer when there is not a trailer.

I have seen in some of these install videos where they wire this sort of thing direct into the taillight wiring, and not tapping into the trailer wire plugs, which tapping into the trailer wiring is super plug and play easy, but plays a lot of havoc with the rear safety systems.

I emailed Putco a week ago asking for recommendations on tailgate light and any wiring harness to avoid using 4 pin trailer plug. Crickets…

Thanks for that information! I noticed you mentioned on another thread that you did disable your ASS, can you repost any link you have where I can purchase what you did to yours? I don't want to mess with any of the senseors. I just got my wife's undercoated with this stuff on the link I'm attaching. Its a wax base and seals for 15 years. Im doing it to mine as soon as I get it. Michigan winter salted roads is why I did it. Thanks again cc1999!
