Just got back from a dealership that says the rearview housing trim is "supposed to hang down to allow ventilation".... and that "the drivetrain rust doesnt affect integrity of the part".

Has anyone had either of these issues fixed from a dealership?

Everyone's rearview mirror housing is like that

Take the truck to a shop that does undercoating. They will remove any surface level rust and either paint it or undercoat it

Pretty chintzy trim piece but it is what it is. Thanks for the undercoating tip...

My dealership agreed to fix the housing on the mirror. I'm guessing the adhesive used was inadequate. I paid for undercoating. It's sad to see what all Ford trucks look like underneath when they arrive new. I feel like it's an unacceptable standard, but that's what happens when you done seal metal components.
