Accent color paint codes

2024 Ranger XLT, carbonized gray

I am planning on painting the bright silver front bumper facia to match the dark gray accent color on the rest of the front, wheel wells, rear bumper etc. I called ford to get a paint color and code for the dark gray accent paint color, they said there are no colors/codes for accent colors, only for the primary color. Mine is carbonized gray, the accent areas are darker gray. I asked what would happen if i needed to paint or touch up the wheel well, rear bumper or any of the dark gray areas on the truck. They said I will need to go to a paint company and have them use a color analyzer and mix up a special batch just for me. This seems complicated and expensive. Has anyone else had the same experience? I guess there is no dupli-color or Ford/spray or paint stick remidies for scratches etc. Wondering if this is just a ford thing and how close the color match is using the camera to come up with the paint color.

All I want to do is paint one piece of plastic facia to match the rest of the truck! If anyone knows a different/better way, please let me know. Are there known colors/codes that match this dark gray? Thanks much, Tom

I would also like to know, I don’t know what FORD was thinking when they picked this color. I don’t really want to paint it because of stone chips. I looked at vinyl wrap (more than $200) SEM trim paint , Plasti-dip paint (don’t have to break original paint and can peel it off) buying a spare since I believe FORD sends them out pre-painted ($475!!!). Not sure which direction I am going to go.

The bumper I assume is the same dark gray metallic paint they use on the Raptor. If so that paint code is allegedly JNV which you can order online for fairly cheap. I bought a pint of JNV to paint the silver lower part to match so I’ll find out in a week or so if it is indeed JNV.

I am have the same problem trying to locate the colour, I call Ford dealership today they gave my two code one was 2AB which the Carbonized Gray but they also had another code for the same colour which I found stranger. Asher Gray code number for that one was 1MDEWHA. But asked a Paint company and they said that same colour as Carbonized Gray. So, I was confused! Just wonder if anybody found a solution of tracking down the colour for the front bumper?

Is it Magnetic J7? That’s what I had written down as the dark accent colour from my 2021 Tremor.

I went through this with another OEM (MINI) to try to get the proper silver for the wheels. I ended up taking one of the wheels (without a tire mounted) to AutoZone. I grabbed silver DupliColor spray cans until I found one that was a close match (it turned out to be a Chrysler color). After painting and clear coating the wheel, it was a near perfect match.

You may want to take off one of the wheel opening moldings off and do the same thing. Since none of these pieces lay next to each other, it does not need to be perfect. Once you find the right color, be sure to share it with the rest of us!

Does anyone know how difficult of procedure it is to remove the silver front bumper facia for painting. Wondering if others have masked off and sprayed or removed it to paint.

Working on getting mine put back together, but pleased with how it turned out. Removed the silver bumper valance and skid plate on Sunday and dropped them off. Got the valance back today and installed so sharing a pic, skid plate should be done at powder coating tomorrow. Can post completed pics if anyone is curious.

Local paint shop had a difficult time pulling the color from the VIN but called a few dealerships and landed a color, posting for reference.

Carbonized Grey is the bumper and Azure Grey is the body color
