You can permanently delete it in the driver assist settings if you want.
I know but I like the feature for when there is an object on either side when reversing that I can't see by looking backwards. I just wish it could not think I am driving into the ground LOL

Interestingly enough, it did not detect a mailbox I backed into. Hit my driver side tail light but very luckily did not leave even a scratch. I knew I was close but could not see or tell how close until I heard/felt it. This was the weekend I got it too lol.

I've had it happen to me shortly after I got the Ranger. I was backing out of a friend's steep driveway and the truck stopped and would not go. I pulled forward and tried backing out and the same thing happened. I was totally confused, so I put it in neutral and was able to roll back out. When I got home I looked it up and found the camera saw the steep driveway as an obstacle. The system also wouldn't allow me to back up his driveway either. Because I stop by his house frequently, I disengaged it.

Mine did it a few times too when backing into the garage. I thought I hit something how hard it applied the brakes.

now I just turn it off. I have a backup camera ffs.

Had my 1st odd experience this morning backing out of driveway.

I’ve had in the past experienced several times when backing out of the driveway, the backup system beeped an alert, even though the was no one else anywhere.
I attributed it to maybe the water in between the road and the driveway.

Today however, not only did it beep ( loudly and insistently), but it also automatically applied the brakes. And there was no water this time.
The road did have a some frost on it. I tried to continue backing up and the brakes automatically applied again.
Both times the bottom of the infotainment system display had the Red alert bar display all the way across the bottom.

Anyone had a similar experience?
I was backing up and only some tall weeds were behind me. The brakes came on full which gets your attention. There may be a way to turn it off if it is happening too often backing out of your driveway. It is a great feature if there is someone or something that could be harmed.
Settings>Driver Assistance >Reverse Brake Assist.

I disabled the auto braking. Not only for instances like this, but for instances where someone may try blocking me to harm me or my family.

Criminals have taken advantage of these new technologies and they know that they can make your car stop automatically by blocking the front or back.

I can now safely plow through any obstruction or potential attacker without worrying about my truck betraying me.
