I told the person handling the paperwork that I didn't want it permanently mounted, but then she came back and said the tech said it was required (which was confirmed incorrect up above).
Yes but the display is on a suction cup mount on the bottom left of the windshield. So they routed the cable up from the ODB through the dash/pillar and then out to the display unit.
Sir.... the cable runs behind the pillar and through the dash down to wherever it needs to be plugged into. I wouldn't want to undo all of that (just in case), but also wouldn't want that cable just hanging out of the pillar.

I've been sitting here at the dealership waiting for them to finish my install. I told them that I didn't necessarily need the "display module" mounted/plugged-in after they were done installing the tune, but they told me that it had to remain plugged in.
That's not correct, is it?
I wanted to go this route, but for some reason, my local dealership was not listed as a possible shipping location for this. My ProCal was overnighted from Ford yesterday, arrives today at my house, and I'm set up for install appointment at that same dealership at 7am on Friday!
Sorry, I'm not very tech literate. What's the point of using your own laptop on something like this? I had the unit shipped to my house and am going to have the local dealership install it. Am I doing it wrong?
I just ordered mine on Ford's website. I wanted to handle installation there, but for some reason my local dealership wasn't listed. So I just took off the install, had it shipped here, and will set up install separate once it arrives at my house.
I had an aftermarket wireless Android Auto head unit in my 4Runner. Then I had the factory unit in my Bronco. Now I'm in my 2025 RR.
They all have the same issue when going wireless. I've narrowed it down to any time I'm crossing under low-hanging power lines, or driving near them. It's...
I kind of had the same experience. I was going to talk to a dealer about 30m away about a 2024 white RR. Right before I left the house, I decided to check my local dealership and they'd just gotten a white 2025 in. They were asking MSRP, which was fine with me. They gave me 40.5k trade in on...
Haha it's no problem. The only reason I knew this was I was parked in front of a convenience store the other day waiting for my girlfriend to run in and grab something and in the reflection of the glass on the storefront I noticed they turned off when I put it in park. Otherwise I might have...
