new member here, not a big forum guy, sorry mods if I messed this up but I wanted to share the capability of these little rigs with others.

I spent the last week out hitting the trails around Ouray, CO and have been thoroughly impressed by my nearly stock RR. She will go and climb anywhere as long as there is clearance.

I do have the 2.25” RPG perch collars, 34” KO2s on a set of +35 offset Bronco Sasquatch wheels. Finally just 1/2 control arm kit with helper jam nuts

made it through Mineral creek, and mineral point all the way to Silverton as well, added a picture of my cousin who is a little over 6’ tall for scale.

How busy are the trails there these days? I remember riding up Imogene on my XR80 30+ years ago and it wasn't too crazy. I've heard it is much worse now.

I’m out here late in the season, and got out very early, so it wasn’t bad, I was home by 1pm everyday, but if you got out after noon it would be awful I’d assume. Many of the trails don’t leave much margin of error for passing/two way traffic, especially Mineral Creek starting the alpine loop from Ouray.

You know what would make this thread better??? More pics...

Especially from the side of your truck with your suspension/wheels setup if you have them.

I mean it was in my comment. It’s stock, except for RPG 2.25” perch collars in the front and their 1/2 tie rod kit. Slightly taller tire. KO3s are white wall only in larger sizes in 17s. So I used a set of Bronco wheels with 275/75/17s I had laying around.

best I can do while still traveling, I’ll take some pics when it’s cleaned up again.

Nice pictures! How much extra clearance do you estimate you have with these mods vs stock? Would a stock RR worked on those trails?

Any noticeable difference with the perch collars in terms of rode quality? Or the bigger tires? All the chatter on here about messing with the live valve shock system has me thinking twice about making any adjustments

I put the 1.5” collars on mine and cannot tell a meaningful difference in ride quality.

You pick up a solid 3.25” in the front. A stock RR would make it up Imogene which is rated as a 6/10 (it’s not a 6, more like a 4.5/10. A Stock RR will not make it through Mineral Creek and Mineral Point. You need at least 315/70/17s if you don’t have the perch collars, even with really great lines and skill.

I drove all the way out and back and at a very high rate of speed throughout Az, NV, UT, CO. It handles basically the same, the ride quality is exactly the same (with ELoad KO2s) . I was at BRonco Raptor Rodeo, and can say the ranger is much more comfortable and proficient at high speed off-roading. Obviously it cannot wheel like the BRAPTOR. But smaller obstacles and true Baja style running it’s much faster (maybe just more fun because it slides so easy in the dirt) , and smoother. And as someone that has owned literally every Raptor (except R), trail driven them all, I personally believe the Ranger is the best and most fun of the bunch.

Sorry to keep going here but it would be nice if Ford would help us that love these things, and actually use them, get in to Rs without ADM. Instead they allow owners and GM to price gouge. I think they should go Tesla business model for Raptor Rs and Halo Mustangs, we buy directly from them, just my .02
